Hi,

I would like to copy some of the forms from one of my project to a new project.

Whats the best way of doing this? I have exported the content of the forms and saved then in Exel but now can't see how to upload this excel export into the new project... do I have to use FormHub? What would you recommend?

Thanks

Natasha

Hi Natasha,

There is an easy way to copy forms from one app to another, though it will not copy over the case management configuration - only the form that you created in the form builder.

Click on the form you want to copy over, and go to the "Advanced" tab. You'll see a bunch of links for uploading, downloading, and viewing an "XForm". The forms you create in the form builder are actually XML files called "XForms". Click "Download" to download the XForm you want to copy to your computer. Go to your destination application, add a form, go to the advanced tab, and upload the XML file you just downloaded. The form should open in the form builder and look exactly the same.

Alternatively, if you want to copy over the entire application to the new project, underneath the outline of forms and modules you'll see a section called "Actions". Click on "Copy application" and type in the name of the project you want to copy the application to.

Thanks,
Amelia

Hi Natasha,

This is a bit advanced, but select a form in CommCareHQ, then select the "Advanced tab" and then download the form.   In your new project, add a new form then upload that form through the same advanced tab.

Thanks,
Sheel
