Nokia 2700c discontinued

Oh no!  it looks like the 2700c is discontinued.   If I’m reading things correctly, the Nokia 6303 which replaced the 2700c is also discontinued.

 

A vendor in India suggested the Nokia C201, which we can get for about $86 USD.       We have to buy some quickly.   If somebody could quickly confirm this model will work for us and/or if there are any thoughts on if there is a better model, please let me know.

 

And others may want to go buy a few spare Nokia 2700c if they are around.  (Only 2 left on Amazon!)

Hi Neal

This is sad about the discontinue of nokia 2700c. For those who may need an urgent replacement can try the 5130c. It works just fine for the application that is running on 2700c. The same jar can run on both models.

yeah, it would be great if we could quickly come up with a short list of good alternatives, since we may need to do searches in a few different countries soon including Mozambique and India.

You can add the 2690 (smaller screen), 2710, and 2730 to that list
(although they're all probably getting discontinued as well).

The Nokia C2-01 device specifications (link below) imply that it has
the right JSR's, and enough heap and jar size to run CommCare with no
problem. It's probably the device we're looking for. It also seems to
imply that there might be a GPS in there (The Location JSR is
included)
