I assume SDDP is just Control 4's variant (most likely an extension to) SSDP. If not, then they just made it hella confusing!
SSDP (note SS not SD) is already in use by a whole range of gear as part of the UPnP protocol.

iViewer can already discover these sorts of devices, and that is shown in the Sonos module, iTunes module, etc.

Anything that makes devices easier to discover is a great step forward, so hopefully manufacturers get their act together and follow Control4's lead.

In the end, this could be something we add into guiDesigner, to automatically discover devices on the network and add them to the list of devices to control or something along those lines.

What uses were you thinking of Paul?

Interesting. I wonder if Control4 will release the details of their SSDP protocol so others (non end device manufacturers) may implement it to discover devices. I suspect that might not be in their best interests
