TCP/IP or RS-232 YNCA control of Yamaha Receivers with DAB Radio

Hi.

Wondering if anyone has info on the YNCA control spec for DAB functions on Yamaha Receivers?

I recently switched one of my receivers for a slimline Yamaha RX-S600D with DAB digital radio (a variant of the RX-S600).

I managed to get a recent copy of the Yamaha YNC & YNCA protocols and was able to reconfigure most of the functions and feedbacks I had already created for the previous Pioneer & Denon receivers to work with the Yamaha YNCA protocol.

However, I've been unable to find any documentation on the DAB radio functions.

For what it’s worth, I’ve interrogated some of the working DAB functions using a telnet connection and discovered a number of functioning YNCA codes and responses (all prefixed with @DAB:DAB...) similar to those for AM and FM tuner functions, which I've basically found by trial and error, and it also provides a number of other feedbacks which appear unique to DAB radio including:

The official Yamaha AV control app for Android (which seems to use YNC spec protocol) appears to correctly parse the return DAB info, so I presume the same DAB functions must also be supported in the YNC spec. Looking at the source data for the HTML YNC spec documentation, there are even references to DAB functions for "supported models", but I can't see any model option that actually displays them in a browser.

I've contacted Yamaha support (on two continents where DAB radio is used), but they've been unable to find any info so far.

Has anyone got any experience with this? One other Yamaha Receiver with DAB support is the RX-V500D, which I presume would have the same functions.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately, this reference is the same as the others I have already looked at - with no documentation of DAB tuner functions at all (and as the USA does not use DAB radio, even the most recent USA spec is unlikely to have this info as no receiver models sold in the USA support DAB radio).

Does anyone have access to a version which specifically includes either the RX-S600D or RX-V500D ?

Try contacting Yamaha Tech support. They now freely provide the latest documentation on the web protocol at least to anyone who asks - their contact info is here - http://usa.yamaha.com/support/contact/audio_visual/

You probably already figured this out, but I missed in my original post that you are looking for a non-US version of the commands. I would imagine that the Yamaha site specific to your region also has a similar "contact us" page. I would try a request to them to see if they can send you the equivalent document. In days past, it was impossible to get things from them like IR codes, but getting the network protocol doc, at least the US version, was as simple as asking for it via their customer support contact page.
