It looks like Dish Network has an app that allows control of your DVR
via IP. Supported models:
* DISH Player 522
* DISH Player 625
* ViP 612 DVR™
* ViP 622 DVR™
* ViP 722 DVR™
* ViP 722k DVR™

Has anyone seen a copy of the protocol they are using for this?

I see that there is no response to this question and i have a related question so if anyone can shed any light on IP control of Dishnet receivers; I am grateful.
The issue that I have is the following:

I have a VIP222K reciever with dual tuners. The secondary tuner cannot be controlled with IR: only with a UHF remote. The tuner does have an ethernet port however and I have heard that there may be a way to send UPnP commands via the ethernet port to control the tuners. Does anyone have any information on the protocol for such integration? I  have no issue with controlling tuner 1 with IR; but I am lost on how to get Tuner 2 control in iViewer due to the limitation of the UHF control only aspect of this tuner.

thanks,

M

It appears that Dish Network does have an API for developers to use. Unfortunately it looks like they will only work with "select" developers.

See http://geekbeat.tv/dish-opens-api-to-developers-on-the-hopper-system/ and http://www.electronista.com/articles/13/09/26/dish.api.allows.full.control.of.hopper.dvr.by.home.automation.systems/

There does not appear to be a public release schedule.

I wonder if the CF folks could request developer status via devpr...@dish.com and pass along the information. Dish does it with Control4.
