Hi everyone.. first time posting here

As i saw in old posts the software Hercules is fine for testing RS232
codes, and im trying to send them to a receiver Denon AVR-4310CI -
without success

I'm using an adapter usb to serial in netbook to the rs232 on the
receiver. -that got port COM3
I configured all requeriments according to the receiver specs:

Baud: 9600
Data size: 8 bits
Parity: none
Handshake: OFF (??-don't change anything if i use RTS/CTS or Xon/Xoff)
Mode: free
Modem lines: i tested DTR and RTS checkeds, one by one nothing works
too

When i change anything on the receiver (manually) i get data received
on the Hercules in black color then i think everything its ok but i'm
missing something -yes i configured the receiver to work fine with the
rs232 otherwise i can't receive data in hercules lol-, and when i send
any code, example power on: PWON$0D
That goes in pink color, but nothing happens on receiver.

Well, thats all -sorry bad english

Thanks

Just checking,

How are you gonna connect the Denon in the end?
With an iTach or something? If that''s true, just connect with
hercules to the iTach instead of your pc.

Oh, sorry to split that part

i'm using a GC-100-6, and i was trying use GCScan before, then i saw
on this forum that software don't work for RS232 -

i was trying send commands to the GC-100-6 via TCP/IP by iTest/GCScan,
and the GC-100-6 was connected to the receiver by RS232

Then i was trying send local commands by connecting the PC direct to
the receiver by RS232 because the hercules can't find the GC-100-6
when i connect pc via CAT-6 tcp/ip.

What i will try is, connect GC-100-6 in the receiver by CAT-6 and
connect my pc in the RS232 of GC-100-6 - what i think is a problem is
define tyhe port 4999 in hercules

btw, i will need a null serial cable to do that, if there more options
to try...
by the way i asked to receive another GC-100-6 in case that i have
this with some problems (?)

That's how im connecting the equipments:
PC RJ45> GC-100-6 (RS232)> Denon receiver

using iTest and sending to the GC-100-6 i try these commands Power on:

Literal Mode:
PWON
PWON\0x0D
PWON\0x0A\0x0D

Mixed Mode:
PWON|0D
PWON|0D
PWON\0x0D|0D
PWON\0x0A\0x0D|0D

No one of these tryies got sucess.

PS. i Tryied using hercules software to recognize the port COMx from
GC-100-6 but not sucess too...

PPS. Connecting PC via usb to serial adapter in the receiver, i can
receive the codes in Hercules sotware when i interact (example,
increase volume manually) - but i can't send the exat same codes via
hercules, using ascii method and all.

Hope someone had these problems to help me,

Thanks.

The Denon power on command format is:
PWON\x0D

If that doesnt work, you have a wiring or network issue.

Hi, thanks for the help - i can send codes by iTest now.

sintax: PWON|0D

was a problem with a straight cable, i was trying use a null straight
cable, but don't work by that way.

it have to be straight non-null cable.

PS. in future i will test by the ipad with the command fusion carriage
