Yes it's possible using Telnet or their own Davinci software. If
you're into Creston, there's a TCP module available on their website.

and devices.

Hi,

Can anyone display the setting they used when connecting to Nexia via iViewer? I have spent quite some time now to get it working and without success.

My Nexia has an IP which is also entered in the guiDesigner System Manager under the device properties. Along the IP address the ports are 23 and 23, TCP server mode is off, heartbeat is off, que and keep constant connection is on whle EOM is "\x0D". Everything else is left blank.

Plese help me because I am going crazy. I have managed to control Nexia via Windows Telnet and I also get iViewer command on the PC if I configure the PC as a TCP server in a Hercules software.

Any info apriciated. Tnx

Does the telnet require a login? If so, you will need to create a startup macro to send username\x0D\x0Apassword\x0D\x0A

Also try adding \x0D\x0A to any commands you send to the telnet system.

Telnet does not require login...for example when I use Windows telnet client I just enter the IP of the Nexia unit and I get a response from the unit "Welcome to the Biamp Telnet server".

As for the command I have tried to add \x0D\x0A, <LF> and \x0D to the end of message but nothing happened.

To me the most interesting part is that the communication between the PC and Nexia or PC and iViewer is working like it should. I am using Hercules for the telnet session. When I connect to Nexia the PC is in a TCP client mode. When I use iViewer to communicate the PC is in a TCP server mode. Also to make any kind of communication I need to hit the connect button in the Hercules whereas when connecting. 

I have also tried to send a startup command \x0D\x0A but nothing happened.

Like I said I am stuck...is it possible it is a iViewer bug since I am using the Android beta version? Or I am missing a command of somekind?

Try with the iOS version. But im confused by your report details.

Do you have TCP Server mode ticked in the guiDesigner system properties? Make sure its not ticked.

states that Biamp uses NTP (Nexia Text Protocol) to control the Nexia
units and all commands needs to be ended with a line feed. Try
end all your commands with a \x0A.

In today's world "Telnet" has become a term that has many meanings.  It used to refer specifically to a particular ASCII based protocol with login being optional that was used in a specific manner. It included identification of the terminal type as part of the initial handshake along with other operational parameters so both sides could communicate in a most effective manner.

 

In today's world it most often means ASCII protocol in port 23 (the original port assigned for Telnet) with no requirements for a handshake sequence or login.  Basically ASCII using raw TCP/IP on port 23.

I am happy to inform you that I have managed to connect to Nexia...

The thing is when I entered a \x0D\x0A command into the EOM box in the guiDesigner system properties nothing was actually sent. But when I entered the same \x0D\x0A in the end of an actual command the thing worked like it should.

Here is the complete setting if anybody will try to control a Biamp system:

Protocol: TCP

IP address: IP of the Nexia unit

Port: 23 Port origin: 23

TCP server mode: NOT checked

Max Connections: 0

Queue message when offline: checked

Maintain constant connection: checked

Heartbeat mode: No heartbeat

Everything else is blank

The EOM is not added to the end of outgoing commands - its only used to buffer reply data and split for the feedback parsing engine.
