I have tremendous news.
By way of actual preamble to the news, it won't surprise long time
listeners to learn that Professors Felten and Lessig have been on my
wish list for interviews pretty much since day one. Encouraged by my
success in contacting, planning and interviewing Bruce Schneier, who
is/was definitely in the top three along with the professors, I
contacted Professor Lessig through his assistant last month. In an
unusual burst of planning and follow through, I followed up this week
with his assistant from whom I had not heard up to that point. I also
fired off a note to Professor Felten, figuring it was about time to
get the ball rolling on that front, as well.
I heard back from Felten yesterday and he is agreeable. We just have
to arrange a date and time and I have to un-melt my brain long enough
to organize a list of questions.
I heard from Elaine Adolfo, Lessig's current assistant earlier in the
week, almost immediately after sending my second request, confirming
that she received the first request and would touch base with Lessig
again to see if he would be agreeable.
I just heard back from her not more than half an hour ago and
Professor Lessig has agreed to be interviewed. It has taken me the
full thirty minutes to recover enough to compose this note and share
the good news. I could be talking to him as soon as the 31st, which
may be viable as I will have just returned from a road trip that
morning and will be off from work as a consequence.
Now I just have to pick my jaw up off the floor, re-boot my brain and
confirm scheduling arrangements and rack the old noggin for worthy
questions and topics. All of you are also encouraged to submit
questions for consideration, too, of course. For those that have not
singed up to this list, I will make mention of this mind bogglingly
cool turn of events in the next show, this weekend. Hm, if we settle
on the 31st, I may have to do a full court press for questions, give
how new this particular list is...
Stay tuned!
