Nice to know at least a few listeners also read the web site. ;-)
I will be announcing the group on tonight's show so I expect a few
more subscribers to join in.
Mentioning tonight's show, a quick production progress report. I
edited up my Skype interview with Zach Ricks of the Geek Survival
Guide and also a larval IP lawyer last night. I am very happy with
the content and quality. That will be tonight's feature and runs a
bit over 30 minutes. So I won't be including a new hacker word of the
week.
I know a lot of folks don't mind the longer shows, but I still hear
about listeners that are chewing on a back log. Being time conscious
helps keep the back log manageable, I am sure.
I also have audio in the can for next week's feature, another
interview. I spoke with Lauren Weinstein, a technologist who has been
involved with the internet since the 70's when it was the ARPAnet.
He's been very active with issues of public policy and privacy. He
recently published a proposal for breaking the network neutrality
deadlock and we delved into that at some length. He so very much
enjoyed the interview, he expressed great interest in coming back,
again. Love those kinds of guests.
On the interview front, I did ping Professor Lessig's assistant with
no response. I need to contact Professor Felten, especially since
Lauren and Ed are on the same ACM committee that I joined a while
back.
Other guest I am considering pursuing in the near future include Jacob
Loshin, author of the great paper on IP law negative spaces and stage
magic, and someone from EFF, probably long overdue. I'd dearly love
to chat with either Seth Schoen or Jason Schultz.
