1. I choose The Peace Imperative: Intercultural communication is necessary for the world being peaceful because communication is capable of making people stay closer. However,  different people will cause many problems beyond understanding each other so that intercultural communication is here for the reason that solving the conflicts between people.
2. I think so. I think that this branches are the detail of the intercultural communication like the philosophy is the basic of other scientific subjects. Their purposes are also the same that making this world better and better and processing the civilization of human being are essential. Furthermore, each branch of this imperative is existing reasonably than other branches is because of the main stream of modern society. In sum up, I can't agree more with this opinion and the branches are divided smartly.

Self-awareness imperative raises the awareness of political, economic, and historical systems though learning intercultural communication. No matter people run a business, study, travel, or do any other social activities in other countries, it may encounter intercultural problem. People may gain benefits or challenges by handling intercultural problem well or not. So, it becomes more and more important for the key of success.

Here is an example about a political situation in China. The noted pastor Liutong, form River of Life Christian Church. He went to China Shanghai three times for propagating Christianity, but he was caught by shanghai’s police three times, although there are a lot of churches in Shanghai. The reason of pastor Liutong’s fail may be that he didn’t aware of China is a country, which has political restriction and prohibit the propagation of religion, although it develops fast and the politics in China seems more open than before.

Therefore, it is a good reason to study intercultural communication because understanding other culture can avoid and reduce the conflicts among different people from different cultures.

I want to choose the Economic Imperative. As we all konw the economic globalization has become the trend of world economic development. when we do some internation bussiness, we all need communicate with foreign business men in English. If we well know where he comes form, what his culture is. Using some decent intercultural communication are becoming very helpful for our business. This is not just about money, this is also about value. we even could make friends with these  people who come from different countries with different cultures.

The Economic Imperative :  Due the changing economical conditions and the fact that globalization is a key factor in determining the economical conditions of nations  throughout the world. Almost every country is globalized and this has brought in new challenges for increased cultural understanding between people of different countries/regions to reach, satisfy and excel in the global market.
Open trade between the countries has lead to many major changes in the traditions and cultures across the world. People slowly started to accredit and know about other cultures in the world. For example, an Indian/Chinese coming to the US need to understand and respect the US culture and vice-versa. For this reason I think this imperative is a good reason for people tp study intercultural communication.

Like most of other classmates, I think the Economic Imperative is the most important reason for studying intercultural communication.
The economy will always be a country's most important lifeblood .Inevitably lead to global economic integration, we must first understand the culture of other countries in order to better expand the international market. Each country has different strengths, and some technological advances, some rich in human resources, some are rich in natural resources, to make goods competitive. Only one country is always too narrow to manufature and consume what they need.

Sorry for too late posting.

The self-awareness imperative: you must know who you are and which culture you belong to when you integrate with some other cultures. Understanding the value of your culture is the best way to "integrate but not soluble".

When I studied in high school, my teacher said that: "Globalization and joining WTO are not only opportunity but also threat for us. We have to integrate with the world but not soluble". Now, I can see it's threat when Vietnamese children, teenagers and even some adults become westernize day by day, especially in daily life activities such as speaking. Recently, there is a clip on You Tube about a student who just came to America for few weeks. She talks about her life in US but try to appear that she lives here for a very long time and can't remember Vietnamese well. She speaks Vietnamese and sometimes look like forget how to say the words, then speaking English instead. I have met some friends who just came here for 1-2 years but they also act like that while my cousins who came here when they just very little kids but try to learn and speak Vietnamese as much as they can. I don't understand that they try to be cool or whatever but I'm very annoyed when speaking with people like that. Of course, I can understand both, but if they want to talk with me in Vietnamese or English, just choose 1 and don't make it's messy with an unknown-combine-language.

I chose the Economic Imperative. I think it means economic imperative to achieve intercultural communication. For example the Silk Road, Zheng He's voyages of Huizhou Merchants, India's ancient Greek businessmen, etc. I think it is a good reason for studying intercultural communication. Because the intercultural communication is very important for economic, maintaining cultural diversity can promote economic development, the development of the world economy need intercultural communication.
