The dialectic I want to talk about is the Different-Similarities in Intercultural communication. For this dialectic, the most important thing is to see the differences and similarities of the comparing objects at the same time. As an example in the modern society, the globalizing economy is the heating trend. During the business with economies that have different culture background, we have to respect different cultures and religions. The differences between them are very obvious but we should still see the common part of them, which is the purpose-to make profits. So, when doing business in the cross culture business we should try to emphasize both similarities and differences and always keep the dialectic in mind, in order to make a win-win situation.

There are more important issue are language and value, when you decided to research  the intercultural communication, you have to know the different culture on their country, and compare with you own situation. With the society development, people doing intercultural communication, big step to reduce the countries range. The group and company should work together and make the big value. We then proposed a new way – a dialectical approach – to conceptualize and study intercultural communication. We suggested that a dialectic perspective could guide future research in two ways. First, as a trans-paradigmatic methodology for studying culture and communication phenomena and second, as a conceptual framework for understanding intercultural communication practice.

The dialectic I want to discuss is the Personal-Contextual dialectic because I have personally experienced this. As an Indian coming to the United States to study has taught me different cultural values and some the local traditions and cultures have imbibed in me which are quite different and contradicting from my own cultures. So once i go back home, these overlapping cultural differences  brought me new troubles while speaking to my elders. There were some new words in my language that people couldn't understand and they were not particularly happy with it. But those words are commonly used while I interacted with people here. So it was particularly difficult for me switch back to my original dialect and back to the US dialect when I returned back from home.

Privilege-Disadvantage Dialectic. This dialectic perpective describe people may have privilege and disadvantage in the same time , or privileged in some aspect and disadvantage in others. We can be simultaneously privilege and disadvantage in gender, age, race, socioeconomic status, and other identities. For example, when I was studying in Chinese university, there was a foreign oral English teacher in school. He was humor, good educated, handsome and only foreigner in school. He was simultaneously privileged because of a lot of students like him and disadvantage because he can not speak local language and not easy to adapt to foreign life.

I chose the Personal–Contextual Dialectic, this dialectic involves the role of context in intercultural relationships and focuses simultaneously on the person and the context. Although we communicate as individuals on a personal level, the con- text of this communication is important as well. I think communicate is important, In the United States, you can call the name of the teacher or elder. But in China, it is impolite.

History/PastPresent/Future Dialectic Another dialecticon the one hand, we need to be aware of contemporary forces and realities that shape interactions of people from different cultural groups. On the other hand, we need to realize that history has a significant impact on contemporary events. For example, I’m a Chinese. I meet a Japanese, he is friendly. But I study history from childhood. I know the war between China and Japan, so I can have some subjective and think I can’t make a good friend with Japanese.

cultural and individual dialectic
I think many countries have different cultures. For example, if one family group want to immigrate to another country, they still use their own ways to live in a new country.
Such as, a chinese family, the parents grow up in China, and they have been here for serveral years, they still be serious to their children and tell them "you have to finish your education so that you will get a good career in the future." But MAYBE the other native families will probably let the children choose what they want and do what they like. Even both of the parents live in the same country, eat same food , communicate with same circle, they have different things inside since they grew up.
