Question2: How do the choices you make about what forms of popular culture to consume influence the formation of your cultural identity?
The culture’s development and popularity cannot leave without the background of its era. The culture’s can express form the fashion, standard of consumption, the way of relax, life style, people’s taste and so on. For instance, in ancient China, the man need to keep the long hair expect the monk. The clothes’ styles are quite different from now. in addition, teleology also influence the culture. For example, twenty years ago, people rarely used mobile phone; ten years ago, the mobile phones are widely used but just for calling people; and now almost every person has a mobile not only using as calling people, but also playing for fun.
In the Christmas, December 25th, our country will also celebrate. That is not because that day is Christmas but because that day is the Constitution Day, to our country that is an important day. However, nowadays new generations don’t care Constitution Day, because they choose to accept American culture. That is, Christmas becomes more important than before, and even more important than the original reason why we celebrate in December 25th. To me, I also think Christmas is more important. In my opinion, the choice I made influences the formation of my cultural identity. My cultural identity is not similar to the primitive Chinese culture, because of the long time to get along with Japan culture and American culture. By this example, my formation of my cultural identity shows some differences what the traditional Chinese culture sound like. Hence, I think my culture is going away from tradition Chinese culture and develops to a new culture. I am not just to follow some old festival is the choice what I made to influence the formation of my cultural identity.
