2. Discuss your opinion about multicultural identity development and multicultural people. Give example in your country or America of the changes leading to the development of multicultural identity (immigration, business, culture, marriage exchange…)

Today, we live in the era of globalization. So, one country wants to develop more better, this country, people and corporations need to accept different culture and different identity. And this, we can promote multicultural identity development. For example, KFC is a famous fast restaurant from America. The Fried chicken is its famous food. But Chinese like eating rice, KFC sell rice here to adapt Chinese eating culture.

As for the changes leading to the development of multicultural identity, the first thing came up with is the "food ticket" police in past of China. We were used a ticket to trade for foods or any eletronic divece. The goverment gives people "food ticket" that can trade for 30bls food per month and maybe gives you one TV ticket for a year. But since the reform and openning of China, goverment repeal this police since 1992. Because we are abosred much cultural form other countires and find out these were no one else using this but China.

In China, people more open mind and more outgoing right now. In the past, the old people can not accept the new things, they think they can not handle that, because that for them is new, and they do not want to have challenge. The education during the past, the parents always educated the children doing better in study,and they did not ask for the children doing something their children like. If is a girl, they will told the girl doing the housework better and behavior must be gentle and quiet. But right now, for me, my parents educated me like boy, they hope I become independently, so this is the big different between the past and now.

In America, they grow up very freedom, they can do what they want to do. So this is the different between coountry's cultural.

       I think multicultural identity development is very important. I think that globalization is the development trend of the world. So, different countries and people need to fusion-promoting multicultural identity. For example, before the reform and open up of China, Chinese people only have some traditional Festival about the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-autumn Festival. But now, Chinese people also celebrate some the western Festival about Christmas, Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day.

I think multicultural people will have some problem with each other, and then they will fight for different habit, religion, thought, culture and so on. After they fight and try to change others, they will go to coordinate. They may find what others are better than themselves and what themselves are better than others. Maybe both of them are good, but when they get together, that will become perfect.  I think multicultural people lead to multicultural identity development resulting to world become batter. For instance, one hundred years ago, Chinese thought man are much more important than women. After they interacted with American and countries from Europe, they were instilled that everyone is born with equal authority. Gradually, women get more and more respect and authority. Finally, they are treated as man. It also leaded to Chinese want to fight for their authority. They didn’t want to be controlled by king any more. They launched revolutions to overthrow government to set up a new government which can provide more respect and benefit to people instead of king.

My hometown China Shanghai is a city of immigrants. Not only people from other part of China, but also from other countries are all come to Shanghai. At the first time, the local people cannot get used to with them. The first reason is too many people make a small city crowded, noisy and dirty; secondly, too many immigrants also make shanghai become an intensely competitive market; third is people from different places have different cultural and language, it’s hard to communicate. However everything has too sides, the good thing is competition make people studying and working harder than before. Linguistic and cultural diversity make shanghai became more developed, for example, you can see all kinds of food in China.

   in China, there have fifty six nationalities. Different nations have different cultural practices. If a nation there are a lot of people in the region or province. This province or region become National Autonomous Region  For example, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region，Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibetans Tibet Autonomous Region. In those autonomous region some people from different  ethnic, them and the local ethnic respect each other. Right now, many minorities will celebrate the festival of Han. Such like Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.

Sexual identity is a very strangle question in China. Because people have a traditional maid about sexual identity. people feel disgusting about gays and lesbian. Nowadays, due to the open world, there are more homosexuals appeared in China. But our main marriage is still opposite sex.I think people will not change their mind about the sexual identity in China in next 50 years.

There are more and more people becoming multicultural identities. Because it is global development trend.

For example, some are multicultural as a result of being born to parents from different racial,ethnic, religious, or national cultures or they were adopted into families that are racially different from their own family of origin. Others are multicultural because their parents lived overseas and they grew up in cultures different from their own, or because they spent extended time in another culture as an adult, or married someone from another cultural background. These are all multicultural identities.

Such as, America is developed counrty. So there are many people want to immgrate here to have a high level life quality.

The transfer of knowledge, information, ideas, emotions and beliefs, and certain related social interaction activities make culture to spread. The cultural exchange and communication for the development of the world culture is very important, and it to maintain the diversity of world culture. It can enhance understanding between the countries, enhance friendship, conducive to mutual respect and political and economic and cultural exchanges.
