1.  Define “identity” in your own words. Which perspective (Social Science, Interpretive, Critical) do you think your explanation related? Give your own identity profile:

  • Gender
  • Sexual
  •
Age
  •
Racial and Ethnic
  • Characteristics of Whiteness
  • Religious
  • Class
  • National
  • Regional

For me, it is National. I think it is nothing can connect the gender, sexual or age with Identity, becasue we are all human beings and we all equal. Also, even if we have different racial and ethnic or different characteristics but we are from same country. So, national is always the most important, because we live with it.

I think identity is very specific. It talks about your information and what you like and how you are like in others opinions including your gender, race, age, appearance, nationality, religion, culture, reputation, credit, and value. In my opinion, identity is something which can stand for you. For example, if your identity is a good student who is male, Russian, eighteen years old, good looking, owning  French passport,  and Christian , it means you are working-hard , polite, friendly, enthusiasm, Well-behaved, and justice, and it can stand for you. I think my explanation is more related to interpretive perspective. The reason is that my identity profiles are about what others think about you except some basic information. How can they know you and form what you are? By communicating with others including you, your family, friends , or getting information from newspaper , TV, even internet, they give you an identity in their mind, and that is how to identify a identity in interpretive perspective.

The Identity in my words just like who you are, where you from, your national and so on. All this information together is will be indentity. The state or fact of remaining the same one or ones, as under varying aspects or conditions: The identity of the fingerprints on the gun with those on file provided evidence that he was the killer. The condition of being oneself or itself, and not another: He doubted his own identity.  condition or character as to who a person or what a thing is: a case of mistaken identity.  The state or fact of being the same one as described. The sense of self, providing sameness and continuity in personality over time and sometimes disturbed in mental illnesses, as schizophrenia.

I think identity is special and different with the others. It can reflect everyone unique and different. For example, different Gender, Sexual, Age, Racial and Ethnic, Characteristics of Whiteness, Religious, Class, National and National can make different and unique characters and cultures. Chinese is black hair and yellow skin and Chinese have a lot of traditional culture. But American is gold hair and white skin, and American have unique multicultural culture.

"Identity" according to me is a collective set of behavioral or personal characteristics (which may be race, gender, age, ethnic, national, class etc.,)by which an individual can be recognized among a group.  My explanation is closely related to the interpretive perspective. My Identity is, a 22 year male South-Indian Hindu coming from a liberal family. This identical characteristics differentiate me from most of the people.

In my opinion, identity is special character and it include different Gender, Sexual, Age,
Racial and Ethnic, Characteristics of Whiteness, Religious, Class, National and National. I think Age is more important. For example, I can guess his age when I meet someone first, because different age people can reflect different identity and have different view for something. And then, we can more understand each other and take communication.

Identify means who we are, which including gender, age, racial religious, nation and region. In interpretive perspective, it formed through communication with others; emphasizes avowal and ascribed dimensions. Avowal is people think themselves, whereas ascription is others think an individual. For example, Barack Obama is the president of the United State of America; however, some people don’t like him, and just think he is nothing. Another key concept about interpretive is core symbol, which means the label, marker or a name to classify individual, social, or a cultural group. For example, we may think Chinese are hard-working; Brazilians are good at football; Americans are good at technology; French are romantic, etc.

In my opinion, identity has multiple concepts, which means who you are, where you are form, what your religion is, how old you are and so on, all these kinds of things define our identity. We are unique, we can't be duplicated. We are special, we have personal preference. We choose our lives, we are discrete individual. Anyway, identity likes our DNA, which couldn't be changed. Because of identity, we can be easily remembered by our familiar friends, we can be easily distinguished from other persons. Our special characteristics structure our identities.

identity” is a mark of people. It show your Gender,Sexual,Age,
Racial and Ethnic,Characteristics of Whiteness, Religious, ClassNationalRegional. Everyone has his/her own identity,The identity of each person used to show the differences with other person. I think the Social Science perspective could explanation related. Human beings are social animals, we are living together in a group. Those people in our living place have some same thing between our identity. The country is a large group. The citizens of the country have same identity.

i prefer to talk about sexual identity. sexual identity refers to how one thinks about sexually attracted. sexual identity belongs to sexual orientation. but they are distinguished. it is individual's conception. sexual attractions is about the sex, the same sex, bisex and have no attractions. for example, the gay love and lesbian love are one kind of sexual identity.

Interpretive:
I think when we identify ourselves, we always attribute identities , not just those based on gender, religion, or ethnicity. For example: many people think Hitler caused the second world war, but some other people think he is a great ambitious strategist. So when we have different identities for same people, it will influence the communication.

I think Identity on the one hand is some basic information about you, for example: gender, sexual, age, racial and ethnic and so on. On the other hand it means which kind of intercultural do you have and what kind of cultural identity you showed to others. I think through the cultural identity the others can easily to classify you.
