Hey guys sorry I did not go to class yesterday but I have not been
feeling well the last couple of days and I have also been running a
fever.

Here is what I have been working on, I couldn't load it to the Files
page.

HISTORY:
o Founded in November 26, 1905 by Florence Butt in Kerrville, Texas.
o Florence and her husband, Charles C. Butt, along with their
children, moved to Texas from Memphis, Tennessee.
o Invested $60 in the opening of “Staple and Fancy Groceries” store on
the first floor of their home.
o Their youngest son, Howard E. Butt, started in the business by
delivering groceries in a little red wagon and late by house and
buggy.
o At age 16, he was managing the store while continuing his
schooling.
o Several unsuccessful attempts to add new stores.
o Succeed in adding new stores in 1928 by purchasing three stores in
the Rio Grande Valley.
o By 1942 Howard has successfully added stores in Corpus Christi,
Austin and San Antonio.
o Howard and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth, both believed in
contributing to the community.
o The company annually gives 5% of gross, before-tax earnings to
hundreds of nonprofit organizations and communities throughout Texas.
o Charles Butt, the youngest son of Howard E. Butt, became company
president in 1971 and chairman of the board in 1984.
o HEB sales have grown from $250 million to $11 billion.
o 1994 introduced their popular Central Market stores—specialty store
with a farmers’ market.
o Complete selection of produce, meats, seafood, cheese, wines and
specialty grocery items from around the world.
o Each location has an on-site European-style bakery and a full
kitchen making hundreds of chef-prepared dishes daily.
o 1997 opened in Monterey, Nuevo Leon, and Mexico.
o Now operates 21 stores in Mexico:
• Monterey, Saltillo, Tampico, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, and
San Luis Potosi.
o No two stores are exactly the same.
o Each store is focused on how to better serve the needs of
consumers.
