From the Windows Terminal settings, I duplicated the kali-linux profile just to obtain a new unique profile guid, then from the .json settings file I've edited the profile name from kali-linux (Copy) to Win-kex and I also edited the commandline and the startingDirectory by pasting those entries on the documentation.

I created a batch file where I coded a way to start Win-kex and exit the Terminal automatically, then finally I converted it to an .exe using Advanced BAT to EXE Converter PRO, I stored it in a folder located to Program Files and I added a shortcut to it called "kali-linux" to my Start Menu.
Now, let's fire Kali back up by opening a new terminal session. If you're using Windows Terminal (which I highly recommend), simply click the drop-down arrow at the top of the window and click "kali-linux" to open a new terminal tab.
My workaround is to use xterm as wrapper. As much as I like grouping feature sometimes a window better to be ungrouped. I.e. I use midnight commander as a file manager and it goes grouped with other terminal windows which is not nice
The disadvantage of starting from Kali Light is that the base distribution doesn't include all of the wonderful Kali tools and utilities. I don't consider this to be much of a problem - in fact, if you tilt your head just right you can see it as an advantage. If you want all of the tools, you just install the package kali-linux-full; if you want only the most common tools, install the package kali-linux-top10 and then you can add other packages to that as needed; but if you want complete control over what is installed, you can choose the individual packages yourself.
Today we will learn something light and easy about how to split kali linux terminal window. This tips and trick will useful when we want to run many process and we can monitor all of the process state in the same window.
Most of us think that Linux has terminal and we can use a command-line interface only in Linux but it is just a myth. There is a PowerShell and a command prompt in windows as well where we may execute the commands easily. But Windows and Linux have commands with the same name as well.
In an attempt to stress the driver and have everything running at the max, I opened a slew of terminal windows: Four windows running hexdump on each of the character devices, another four windows continuously dumping the contents of the sysfs attributes representing the device register for each of the serial ports, and another window continuously dumping the telemetry-related sysfs attributes. I also had a window running top, and another running watch 'dmesg tail -40' to view whatever debug info my driver generates (which isn't much - just things like open/close of the chardevs, any errors, etc).
After about 15-20 minutes of running, ALL of my terminal windows just suddenly disappear, all at once. No error popups, and dmesg shows nothing except my driver reporting that the character devices have been closed. The system remains stable. I am able to open new windows, etc. And my driver seems to just keep humming right along as well as if nothing had happened. From the driver's perspective, it just looks like all four hexdump processes just exited all at once, and there were no errors reported by my close function.
One other thing I should mention (even though I'm not sure how it might be relevant) is that I've tried this in a slightly different configuration where two of the four serial ports had loopback connectors on them, and instead of running hexdump on those two character devices, I ran my own bit error rate tester utility. In all, I've tried this 4 times, and the result has been the same each time. After about 15 minutes (give or take 5 minutes), all the terminal windows close all at once, the driver keeps running just fine, and absolutely nothing at all unusual in the dmesg output.
