VIII sesión de la Plataforma Regional en el horizonte La VIII Plataforma Regional para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres en las Américas y el Caribe (PR23) es un hecho. Se llevará a cabo en Punta del Este, Uruguay, del 28 de febrero al 2 de marzo de 2023, bajo el auspicio del Gobierno de la República Oriental del Uruguay y como una oportunidad única para intercambiar experiencias entre gobiernos, organizaciones intergubernamentales, sector privado, sociedad civil, comunidades científico-tecnológicas, juventud, agencias de cooperación y donantes, así como otros actores relevantes de la región.  Para esta nueva edición de la Plataforma Regional, el tema principal es "Ciencia y Tecnología para la Gestión Integral del Riesgo de Desastres". Esto, en vista de la necesidad de centrarse en el apoyo científico y tecnológico como herramienta fundamental para la gestión integral del riesgo de desastres, especialmente en cuanto a su viabilidad, desarrollo, financiación e implementación. La PR23 se desarrollará en modalidad híbrida, ya que se llevará a cabo de manera presencial pero también se habilitará el acceso necesario para la participación virtual. VIII session of the Regional Platform happening soon The VIII Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean (RP23) has been scheduled. It will be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, from February 28 to March 2, 2023 under the auspices of the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and as a unique opportunity to exchange experiences among governments, intergovernmental organizations, private sector, civil society, scientific-technological communities, youth, cooperation agencies and donors, as well as other relevant actors in the region.  For this new edition of the Regional Platform, the main theme is "Science and Technology for Integrated Disaster Risk Management". This, in view of the need to focus on scientific and technological support as a fundamental tool for comprehensive disaster risk management, especially in terms of its feasibility, development, financing and implementation. The RP23 will be developed in hybrid mode, as it will be conducted in person but also enabling the necessary access for virtual participation.
