Healthy Livable Communities Coordinator:  This position supports the development, programming, and sustainability of the Healthy Livable Communities Initiative; including planning and coordination necessary to launch the Mercado in Hunts Point. This newly funded project will develop local food systems that encourage healthy eating among low-income populations disproportionately affected by obesity and food insecurity and encourage the use and access to open space in the community. Activities will include: Creation of local Advisory Council, addressing food system infrastructures as well as creating public and private partnerships.  Active living activities include: development of environmental supports relevant to everyday living, including play streets, jump zones, and safe play spaces. Expand cooperative partnerships with local organizations and government agencies to ensure community voice and foster long-term sustainability of policy and environmental change.  A Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in either public administration, community organizing, community design, public planning or other related disciplines. Masters degree can be substituted with three to five years of experience in an applied community public design, community development organization and community organizing. Advanced communication, analytic and organizational skills. Background in community organizing, urban planning, community development and community needs. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of project goals. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Prepare clear and concise reports. Ability to work after normal business hours as required fulfilling the responsibilities of the position. Bilingual-English and Spanish preferred.
