Dear Colleague,

 

On behalf of Synopsys, I am pleased to invite your university to participate in the 19th International Microelectronics Olympiad to be held in November 2024 in Armenia.

 

The objectives of the Olympiad are to stimulate further development of microelectronics, both in Armenia, as well as in the participating countries; to recognize and inspire young and talented engineers; to increase interest in microelectronics among young specialists; to understand the level of knowledge in the field of microelectronics among young specialists in the participating countries in order to make necessary adjustments in educational programs and to expand a community of young specialists involved in microelectronics.

 

Students under the age of 30, who have microelectronics related knowledge are welcomed to participate in the Olympiad.

 

The Olympiad topics are:

• Digital IC Design and Testing
• Analog and Mixed Signal IC Design and Testing
• Semiconductor Devices and Technology
• Mathematical and Algorithmic Issues of EDA.

 

The Olympiad is conducted in two stages:

• The first stage, consisting of a series of knowledge-based written exams, will be held locally and simultaneously in all participating countries before July 31. The test questions as well as the answer sheet will be sent to the participating universities the day before the test.
• The final stage will be held in November 2024 in Yeveran, Armenia, where they will have to solve more complex problems. 

 

The three highest scoring students from the region (only one per country) will be eligible for the second stage test among the best contestants from all participating countries. This stage will be held in Armenia in November 2024. The Olympiad organization will provide air tickets, accommodation, 3-day stay for the Latin American participants who will represent the region in Armenia.

 

Note: Each winner will have to pay a fee of US$200 to participate in the final stage. If there are other sponsors in their respective countries to cover the expenses, we could have more than 3 participants from the region.

 

Important: The first stage can be held no later than July 31, 2024. (Handout attached.)
