I ran a little exercise to decide if it would be worth it to switchover to the RRTP still.
I have what I consider a high Capacity Charge, and with all of the WFH and Remote Learning from home, I do expect our usage to continue to increase over my norms.

Goal:
To determine if RRTP or a Fixed Price is better for me.  Also what's the risk from spikes to the cost.  I've been on a $.053 plan recently, but can get a $0659 now.
Yes, this was also done in a recent study that showed with no behavior changes, RRTP would still save most consumers 15%.  But I thought I'd run the numbers for myself.

Challenges:
  • I didn't want to rely upon the 'average' per day published by ComEd since most of my usage is during the day when the rates would normally be higher than say 4am.
  • Overlaying my Personal Usage isn't possible since I'm not on RRTP and can't get my own personal usage history by hour in any easy way.
  • In low usage months (winter), the capacity charge has a huge effect on the cost.
I want to thank Scott Allen for helping with the Hourly Usage details.
I had to manually enter some daily usage, which I could get.
I then built a model of Low and High usage months.  Applying those to July (High) and October (Low).

In summary, with my unusually heavy Capacity Charges, assuming that my usage this year is more than last year during the low months, I'll likely pay less with RRTP still.

Month     |  KW used  |  RRTP Supply   | Avg KWH Rate  |  Rate w/ Cap Chg
  Oct 19:   |   679.7       |  $15.84             |   0.0233              |    0.0624
  July 20:  | 1739.0       |  $44.36             |  0.0255               |    0.0408

I'd welcome anyone's feedback.

I'd also be curious to know if any companies or websites are providing this level of personal review / analysis to consumers.

Having gotten into the ComEd API's, I do see how someone could build a service out of what I've done.  With a few added API's (possible mandates from CUB) this could also be done easily at a personal level too.

Make sure you know your "PLC" before you make a final RTPP aka BESH decision.  Capacity Charge obligation first calc data point.

Here is the link - punch in your account number and if lucky tou will master the clunky page to get "View Summary Data Online"
PLC is at the top portion before monthly breakdown.
