For all of you out there who are trying to create some homebrew automation do do things like (IF ComEd Price is Negative) THEN (switch ON all my Lights) , or (IF ComEd Price > 12 cents/kWh) THEN (tell my NEST to switch off the AirCon) -- then ComEd has made all of this a whole lot easier, I discovered they publish an IFTT connector here:
You don't have to do fancy automation with this. You can kick the tires by asking IFTT to record all prices in a google sheet, and send you a Text when the price is negative, for example. The possibilities opened by this are only limited by your creativity.
If you have already played with this connector, please use this forum to describe your musings. I am particularly interested in any successful attempt at connecting EV charging with price thresholds. There is a lot of time-based charging out there. Price-based, user-defined charging sounds a lot more interesting. Any takers on this challenge ?
Disclaimer: I don't work for ComEd or IFTT, I just find this is a cool tool.
