I am wondering about a dish that some of his relatives make. It's more of a side dish or a sandwich. It involves one layer of a bread (like a thick gozleme dough) with chicken and potatoes,etc., in the middle, then a top layer of bread. This is baked then cut into squares and served in a stack to compliment the meal. Have you heard of this? His family lives in Istanbul, but they originate from the Malatya region and I think the recipe is from their village. I would love to learn how to make it...

We have a Turkish restaurant in our small town and the food is wonderful, especially the Shepherd's salad.My daughter just tried the one on your site and it came out as good as the one in the restaurant. Do you have a recipe for "Yogurtlu Tavuk" which is layers of chicken, fried bread and garlic yogurt. Thank you.

There may be variations to the recipes even with the same name and slightly different from region to region. Therefore it is difficult to identify which one exactly you are asking for because marinade ingredients can be different. The cooking style of chicken also be different.I am going to post it in the future:)

I was stationed at Incirlik AB and enjoy the food at the Red Onion. They served a chicken dish that theu called the Charlie Special which had a tomato base with potatos. Any idea what it was or have a recipe for it?

When I used to live in Saudi Arabia we used to enjoy Iskandria (BBQ chicken and bread soaked in tomato sauce with yoghurt topping) from Turkish cuisine. I tried to find this recipe but I think it goes with some other name. Can u help me please?

@Eric I too was stationed at Incirlik. I believe you are talking about "chicken tava". It consisted of chicken, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, tons of garlic in a tomato sauce that could vary in spiciness and was out over rice. Yum!
Hi, A few years ago I was traveling and ate at what I believe was a Turkish restaurant. They had an amazing dish with chicken, rice and covered in melted cheese. It was baked in a cast iron type dish. I am not sure if it was an authentic Turkish dish but I loved it and would love to learn a similar recipe. Please help if you know what this is. I have not posted any chicken recipe under the name of Tavuk Guvec but Chicken Tava is similar. It can be cooked on the stove or in the oven.
