Due to personal circumstances beyond his control Scott Henry had to give us a raincheck on his return. Scott promised he will make it up to us and you in the near future. On a happier note, Heather Heart has joined the S.U.N. family to complete the STORM rave trifecta, along with Frankie Bones, and Adam X! This is the first time our entire S.U.N. Warehouse line-up is spinning together at the same party in decades!

SUN COLLECTIVE in association with: ROTARY, SONIC GROOVE BERLIN, GROOVE THERAPY & ORIGINAL BROOKLYN Present...

S.U.N.

THE PARTY 17 YEARS IN THE MAKING...

Twenty years ago a wave crashed on the shores of NYC. The wave was of sound, color and collectivity. From the ashes of conflict and pettiness rose this mighty phoenix called rave, and it changed everything. The STORM was upon us, and the new rule was of dance and trance. The new ethos was, “By the ravers, for the ravers…” Tonight we pay homage to where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.

This is the first Brooklyn warehouse style event that Dennis the Menace, Fredstrong, Frankie Bones, Adam X, Heather Heart, Eddy Van Raven are working together on since the last STORM rave on 12/12/92.

After the STORM the S.U.N. always shines…

IN THE S.U.N. WAREHOUSE:

FRANKIE BONES - STORM rave, Sonic Groove, NY/LA
www.fb.me/djfrankiebones
The Godfather of Techno himself! Tonight we celebrate 20 years of NY rave, and you cannot talk about NY rave, or even US rave, without talking about Frankie Bones. He was the first US DJ to spin the London Orbital rave in 1989, and that UK hanger party planted the seed, which grew into the East Coast rave scene. In 1990 he opened Groove Records with his brother Adam X, and along with Heather Heart launched the now legendary STORM raves in 1991. Frankie has been a pioneer and an innovator in United States EDM, ever since its inception. Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for Bones, none of us would be here tonight…

ADAM X - STORM rave, Sonic Groove, NY/Berlin
www.sonicgroove.com
Adam X, along with his brother Frankie Bones is a founder of both Groove Records, and STORM rave. In 1995 he created the Sonic Groove record label, which he now runs from East Berlin Germany. Adam has an exhaustive discography spanning 21 years, on labels such as Peacefrog, Magnetic North, Wax Trax, CLR and Prologue. In his career, he has performed alongside Aphex Twin, Derrick May, Nitzer Ebb, Andrew Weatherall and numerous others. He’s performed at thousands of legendary events and club nights globally including Mayday, DEMF, Mutek, Berghain, Tresor, PS1, Monox and Fabric. When he is not recording and organizing events in Berlin, he is whipping his devotees into a frenzy at raves and clubs the world over. Witness his return to where it all began

HEATHER HEART - STORM rave, Under One Sky, Sonic Groove, N.Y.C.
www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1286112553&ref=ts

Hailing from Brooklyn, not only is she a STORM original, She is also known as one of the co-owners of the now legendary Brooklyn based techno/dance music retailer Groove Records (Sonic Groove) along with Frankie Bones and Adam X. Heather has been "working" the turntables since the beginning of the 1990’s and paved the way for the future of female djs around the world. Heather's knowledge of techno and dance music shows in her "spot-on" dj sets and was exemplified within her publication Under One Sky, a full-on original fanzine supporting djs, producers and fans with reviews, interviews and scene reports for the die hard techno fan. Heather also produced the seminal free outlaw events "Back to Basics" in the NY area. Pulling in world famous djs and producers like Richie Hawtin, Frank DeWulf, Ms. Djax and more. Her deep understanding of electronic music and her “for the scene by the scene” attitude always guarantees a top notch dj performance.

LENNY DEE - STORM rave, Industrial Strength Records, NYC
www.IndustrialStrengthRecords.com
DJ, Producer, Owner of, the legendary, Industrial Strength Records… Lenny Dee’s career reads like a who’s who of EDM. Industrial Strength has released music from: Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Manu Le Malin, Cirilo, Zenith, John Selway, Daft Punk, Casper Pound, Unexist, DOA and so many more. SUPERSTAR DJ KEOKI – STORM rave, Disco 2000, *AMP+, NYC
http://www.facebook.com/SuperstarDJKeoki
Keoki pioneered techno for the NYC club scene. His residency at Limelight’s Disco 2000 is now legendary. Keoki is the DJ to have spun the most STORM raves (apart from the Sonic Groove family). He is an innovator who has been reinventing himself and his music for two decades. No celebration of NY’s rave scene would be complete without Keoki behind the decks.

JAMES CHRISTIAN - STORM rave, ReUnion, NYC
www.facebook.com/DJJamesChristian
James Christian has earned his place in the NYC house movement. From his two year residency at Limelight in the early 90s, to his European tours spinning to thousands in Italy, Germany and England, James is a veteran who has constantly reinvented himself. He has produced tracks for Nervous Records and Sorted, with additional releases on Dust Traxx, Strictly Rhythm, Underground Construction, T.C.K. Records, Blinded Records, and BMG. A deep love of the beat underscores all of his music. James Christian has recently finished collaborations with Osheen, and That Kid Chris, and is presently partnering up with Mike Wall and George Defeo. Not to be missed!

DJ STRESS - Thunderground, D.O.S. Collective, NJ
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001218900877
Stress is a O.G. of the New Jersey underground. He founded D.O.S. (Disciples of Storm) with friends Joey "The Naked Raver" Daze, and Scott Williams because they wanted to bring the STORM vibe to Jersey. Their legendary Basemental and outlaw events did just that. They were quoted as saying "Storm made us do it". Ironically Stress went on to being resident DJ at the now infamous STORM rave club Thunderground on Staten Island.

Your Selectors for the Night:
World's #1 Female DJ:

DJ RAP
(www.djrap.com, Impropa Talent, Los Angeles)
(House Music Set)
www.djrap.com/music.php#music-latest.html
www.djrap.com

Over her 15-year career, DJ Rap has moved effortlessly between genres, staking her claim on various styles within the electronic spectrum, while simultaneously pushing the limits of rock and pop. The First Lady of Drum 'n' Bass and the undisputed Queen of the Turntables, her music has infiltrated club systems and car stereos worldwide, and her numerous forays into video game and motion picture soundtracks have solidified her pedigree as one dance music's most successful and prolific artists.

With three studio albums, 75 mix compilations and over 2,000,000 in cumulative worldwide sales to her name, what makes you think she'd stop now?

In May 2010, DJ Rap will release Synthesis (Ministry of Sound), a brand new studio album that weaves together a full compliment of synthetic textures and organic moods, and paints a lucid picture of her journey as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Powerful, melodic and immaculately produced, Synthesis is a return to the hybridization of styles she brought forward on Learning Curve (Sony), her 1999 debut that had magazines like Rolling Stone and Ray Gun heralding her arrival into the mainstream. The album's first single, "Give It All Away," will be released November 2009.

"This goes deeper than just a dance record," says Rap, inspired by a wide range of artists, from Pink Floyd to Mutemath. "This album is a soundtrack to my life and what I've been going through."

Though it's been three years in the making, Synthesis represents merely one facet of Rap's diversified portfolio. Her drum 'n' bass and breakbeat imprint, Propa Talent, has released over 200 tracks since its inception in 1994, and has become one of the genre's most respected and well known labels. With its relaunch this year, Propa Talent once again returns to the spotlight, offering up new releases from artists like Nebula, Killin' Time, Mark Campbell, DJ CJ, Mezo and Kyshido. Meanwhile, Impropa Talent, founded in 2008, catalogues Rap's ongoing love affair with house music, and features the work of established producers like Mike Hiratzka, as well as up-and-comers like Tyler Revata and K-OBA. As owner, manager and A&R for both labels, Rap has been busy cultivating fresh new talent that you're sure to be hearing from in the near future. And that's just the beginning.

In 2010, Rap will again reshape the landscape with Metasyn, a ferocious new D&B project with producer and vocalist Chemical Hero. A complete sensory blitzkrieg, the Metasyn experience will transform everyone's preconceptions of what live drum 'n' bass can be.

"This isn't going to be some cute chick making pretty music," she laughs. "You're in for one hell of a ride!"

New details on Metasyn, as well as information on a 70-date world tour in support of Synthesis, will be revealed shortly. In the meantime, keep up on all the latest new and music at myspace.com/therealdjrap and www.djrap.com. Visitors will be able to purchase releases from both her labels, as well as DJ Rap's entire catalog. The fully interactive website also features videos, free downloads, and one-click access to both iTunes, Beatport and Drum and Bass Arena.

Check out an in-studio interview with DJ Rap on D&BTV: tinyurl.com/DJRapDnBTV.

ALSO she has a sick Mixcloud show!

EVOL INTENT (www.evolintent.com) - Dubstep / DNB

Having begun Evol Intent Recordings in 2000, Knick and Gigantor were determined to create a conduit suitable for their own productions as well as those by friends and like-minded producers. The Enemy joined ranks shortly after, via the internet, and eventually relocated to contribute to the growing movement. Armed with several releases, a host of regional performances, and recognition by acclaimed publications, the next level of success was but an imminent conquest. Tracks like “Seven Angels for Seven Plagues”, “Red Soil”, and “Where’s the Score” remix began generating serious buzz on the dubplate circuit; in turn garnering the affection of bona fide artists like Technical Itch and Dylan and the esteemed Trouble On Vinyl music group. With Evol Intent Recrodings acquisition of world wide distribution (initially via Alpha Magic), a high exposure 12″ release on Outbreak, and signing to the exalted Renegade Hardware, the group’s incredible progression was unparalleled. Releases on the TOV sub-label, Barcode, and a remix of the Future Cut anthem, “Ghetto Style”, furthered the crew’s burgeoning development. With a compelling amount of quality releases and respect from the media, the trio took their gospel to nearly every corner of the globe. Extensive worldwide touring from Atlanta to Australia embedded the Evol Intent doctrine into the ears and soundsystems across dozens of nations.

The word on Evol Intent was spreading and caught the attention of Dieselboy who requested their skills for his acclaimed “Dungeon Master’s Guide” compilation, remixing a track from the world-renowned BT. Their 2005 “Us Against the World” mix CD and tour have given rise to numerous developments and further collaborations particularly with barcode label mate Ewun. With the assistance of LOAD Media, Evol Intent Recordings released new material by Mumblz, Arsenic, and Counterstrike and will also feature remix treatment courtesy of techstep stalwart Technical Itch and Milwaukee based phenoms Gein. One short year later saw the guys release the “Police Sate EP” which went on to be one of the best-selling EPs by an American drum n’ bass producer. Despite all these advances, Evol Intent were not content following a straight path and in an effort to branch out into different artistic releases they produced tracks for video games like the coveted EA Sports’ “Need for Speed” and Adult Swim promo adds.
Having achieved a degree of accomplishment approaching pinnacle proportions, Evol Intent sees no intention of resting or becoming complacent and went full force into 2007. This past year saw them reunite with friend Dieselboy for his ‘Human Resource’ release titled “Evol Intent Assemble the Monster”, featuring tracks that were re-edited, mashed-up and glitched. They also solidified other partnerships, this time with fellow producers Chris Renegade, Ewun, Apex and Spor to create the imprint Lifted Music. “Glock Party”, Evol Intent’s contribution to the label’s inaugural release “The Prologue EP” became an undeniable underground smash-a track that Goldie has been spinning all over the world and boldly states that “the reaction has been mental.”

As for the future, Evol Intent will be releasing their highly anticipated debut artist LP “Era of Diversion” which features the trio’s signature hardcore drum n bass sound, but the album will many surprises in store for fans, as it traverses different genres and styles. Breaking the mold and experimenting with other genres is extremely important to Evol Intent’s evolution which is why they also have side projects that afford each member an extra creative outlet. Knick has partnered with fellow drum n’ bass producers Mayhem and Ewun to form the breaks outfit Hostage and downtempo project Minus Music, respectively. The Enemy is working with many of Atlanta’s elite MCs producing hip hop beats and produces electro bangers under the name Treasure Fingers. And Gigantor has been working behind the scenes for many Southeastern acts doing mixdowns and engineering.

Underground superstardom may well be an understatement, but the importance of Evol Intent in contemporary drum n’ bass is simply undeniable. Beats that think, beats that hurt. Evol Intent beats nonetheless
