Friday, February 11th, SYNTH presents
TITTSWORTH
Whether deck or dinner
plate, Tittsworth’s insatiable hunger questionably devours whatever is
put in front of him. The Chinese-American carnivore from Washington D.C.
almost immediately leap-frogged from local favorite to international DJ
headliner, quickly taking part in mammoth festivals such as the annual
40,000 person Good Vibrations Festival (with Kanye West, Cypress Hill,
The Rapture) and Electron Festival in Geneva (Boy 8-Bit, Jack Beats,
A-Trak). He regularly plays alongside industry heavyweights like Moby
and Benny Benassi and recently headlined his own Scion national tour.
As a producer, Tittsworth fields remix offers from artists and
labels as varied as his appetite. Artists such as disco legend Grace
Jones, DNB front runner Subfocus, and Steve Aoki; labels like Ministry
of Sound and Interscope Records. Kid Sister and Fatboy Slim both chart
his material and Radio One regularly plays his tunes. Pitbull and Nina
Sky both made appearances on his 2008 debut album 12 Steps (released on
Stretch Armstrong’s Plant Music), critically acclaimed by Billboard, DJ
Mag, and URB. Currently working on album number two, Tittsworth’s studio
time is shared with the likes of Q-Tip and Maluca.
Musically inclined and business minded, Tittsworth established his
own record label T&A (with DJ Ayres) in 2006. Last year, Tittsworth
expanded his business interests even further and opened U Street Music
Hall, a world-class night club with an ever-present line for sold-out
shows. Called the “Fabric of the US” by DJ Craze, U Hall boasts a sound
system to rattle not just ears but eyeballs.
Tittsworth is not only known for his talent in music and commerce,
but also by his amazing palette for strange foods. His favorite and most
memorable dish is live octopus. Tittsworth has harnessed the powers of
these mighty sea beasts for the good of humanity, and consumes them one
at a time… ALIVE
DJ Theory
Born and raised in the hills of MA, DJ Theory has been
making music since he was in his huggies. Now based in San Francisco and
all grown up, he can be found deep in the lab by day cooking up fresh
and original production, remixes, edits and DJ mixes, and in the club by
night serving up healthy portions of heat behind the decks. He touched a
slew of venues in The Bay and beyond his first year in town, and also
secured a position as the official scratch DJ for the SF 49ers
performing live at every home game. In an era where anyone can bluff as a
DJ, select few are still keeping things original, forward-thinking, and
true to the essence... To put it short, Theory is NOT playing around
and will continue to turn any room upside down with no apology.
In addition to his solo works, Theory is a founder and active member
in the MA-based hip hop collective "The Problemaddicts" whose last
album (released on Mystika Music, a label Theory founded in '05) was
quickly charted in the top 10 on CMJ hip hop chart and went on to
receive extensive press and radio play worldwide. Through his work with
The Problemaddicts he's performed, toured, produced, scratched, mixed
and collaborated with artists like Masta' Ace, Planet Asia, Statik
Selektah, Tash of Tha Alkaholiks, Illmind, Termanology, Crooked I, Ed
OG, Big Pooh of Little Brother, Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, El Da Sensei,
Main Flow, Mr. Metaphor, Mr. Lif, Brother Ali, Akrobatik, Immortal
Technique... He's also shared the stage with a wide range of artists,
just a few of which have included Sizzla, KRS-One, Mos Def, N.E.R.D,
Leftside aka Dr. Evil, Just Blaze, Ghostface, Dead Prez, Passion Pit, De
La Soul, Federation Sound, Clipse, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Dilated Peoples,
Blackalicious, Soulive, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Antibalas, Sean
Price & Bootcamp, Brazilian Girls, Lee "Scratch" Perry, M.O.P,
Little Brother, GZA ...
