FREE !! Handicap Tournament!!
There will be a free handicap tournament on awards night. The tournament is free and open to all but players must be club members or pay the daily fee to play ($10 for adults or $6 for students).
In a handicap tournament, each match consists of one game of 31 points. The lower rated opponent starts with a number of points based upon the difference between the player’s ratings to even the competition against the higher rated player. This allows players with widely different ratings to be competitive in the same tournament.
Each player will compete in a round robin with 3 other players which guarantees that everyone plays at least 3 matches. The groups are created randomly, so it is very likely that each group will contain players with widely varying ratings. The top 2 winners of each group will then compete in a knockout bracket. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 winners.
League players and substitutes will use their league ratings for the tournament. Others will use an average of their recent USATT and club Round Robin ratings. If you do plan to play and do not have a recent club or USTTA rating, please let me know so that we can assign a rating for the tournament. Reply to:
