THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT:
This is the last newsletter until late February.
Puerto Morelos Mexico Camp (1-8 Feb): Bernie Heideman is leaving for Mexico on January 30th, so contact him about that camp before then.
Being Our Beauty: A Pause for Women (7-8 Mar): This is an optional retreat for women right before Joyful Journey and is a separate event. We need 15 women for it to happen; early registration deadline is 15 January. Contact Sky Safir and/or see info below.
Joyful Journey (8-10 March): Sky Safir will be in Mexico 21 January-15 February, but will have intermittant email access, if you want to register during that time. Please do not call Joyful Journey directly to reserve a room/yurt - you must contact Sky Safir first.
Canyonlands East Spring Camp (8-13 May): We are exploring the possibility of having a Saturday night post-Dance concert and dance party by Arlyn and David Alderdice (Bernie's daughter and son-in-law) and their band, Embodying Rhythm Marimba Ensemble (check them out on YouTube)! Stay tuned for updates.
WINTER IN MEXICO AND/OR GUATEMALA!
Winter is upon us (in the northern hemisphere anyway.) Snow, cold, clouds and all that. If you want to take a break from it, like these lovely Mexico Camp goddesses have, there are a number of Dance retreats to choose from:
• Rancho Sol y Mar, an eco-retreat south of Puerto Vallarta, January 23-28, with Sky Safir & Kristina Rogers;
• Puerto Morelos, south of Cancun, February 1-8, with Bernie and Sky Safir (where you can hear all about the Goddesses' travels through Mexico and Central America in January);
• Guatemala, February 10-18, with Grace Marie;
Then bask on a beach or explore ruins until
• Guadalajara, March 15-18 with Darvesha.
Just think about it... then take action! (See articles or calendar below for details.)
MEXICO IN 2019!
Register Now!
Bernie write, "This year's Mexico Camp is Feb 1-8, 2019 in Puerto Morelos Mexico, a friendly, convenient and comfortable small town that has consciously escaped the over the top touristy environments of Cancun and Playa del Carmen. This camp has been a wonderful break from Northern Winters. The beach is protected by an offshore reef and allows snorkeling right from the beach or from local boats. We dance twice a day outside on the sand near the ocean. There will be some extra gatherings in the afternoons and evenings after the dance. The singing after the dance has been especially sweet in the acoustically interesting Dance House (Alaska house)."
Bernie Heideman and Sky Safir Roshay are the main Dance leaders, joined by many dance leaders from around the world. We continue to lead interesting and engaging Dances running the gamut from ecstatic, to fun, to very deep. Bernie's current interest is in enhancing the power of the Dances through the conscious joining together of our intention and focus. Dancing in a circle is a unique opportunity to magnify our prayers.
The camp costs $250 plus room, board, & transportation. We usually have 50-75 dancers. Allow yourself some extra days in the Yucatan for exploration or just relaxing at the beach.
To register send $100-250 ( the full amount makes book keeping easier) to B Heideman 11126 3500 Road Hotchkiss CO 81419. All but $25 is refundable if you need to cancel.
Bernie is booking the Hotel Gota de Sal (where we dance). There are no single reservations left but there are several doubles (with two beds in the room) left. He will also assist with finding places to stay. Email or call him if you need help finding a room or have questions: heid...@paonia.com, 970-872-2172 Make sure if you look on the internet that you find a place within 4 blocks of the ocean. There are places 3 km away, in the Colonia, that still show up as Puerto Morelos and are less expensive, but it is much less convenient and can be noisier. People have been ok with staying there but just make sure that is what you want.
Bernie will be sending out more information about the area and the town and answering questions about water, travel, getting to the camp from the airport, money, and more. The peso is currently 19-20 to the dollar which is a very good exchange rate.
He also has a new CD out called "Living in the Heart".

Location: Rancho Sol y Mar on Mayto Beach, two hours south of Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific coast of Mexico. This is a sustainable, eco-ranch, nestled above the beach (5 minute walk).
This is a five-day residential retreat with many housing options. You can camp, bring an RV, or stay in one of the few lodge rooms at the facility. There are also lovely hotels within a short walk.
Food-Breakfast and dinner will be provided, lunch on your own.
Getting Here-Fly into Puerto Vallarta. There are many inexpensive flights from all over the US. Many of us are arriving in Puerto Vallarta on the 22nd to take the shuttle van the morning of the 23rd. You can also come by bus, if you prefer.
Lodging-You can camp on the grass, park your RV, or get lodging at a local hotel; we have a list of recommendations.
Leaving: A group of us will be leaving the retreat on the morning of the 28th to fly to Cancun, headed to Puerto Morelos to be ready for Bernie's Mexico retreat, which starts February 1st. If you want more info on that, contact Sky. (You are not required to leave that soon; in fact you can hang out at the Rancho for days if you want.)
Cost:
RV with hook-up (electric and water, no sewage) $270 per person.
Camping and RV’s with no hook-ups, $220.
Staying at a Hotel-$220 (includes food and dance program)
Transport to and from Rancho Sol y Mar, plus one dinner out, extra. (approx. $60 total)
It promises to be a magical place with a wide open beach bringing us into our hearts as we dance and look within.…
Registration-Send Sky a check at Sky Roshay, POB 1394, Snowflake AZ 85937 and email her and tell me that you’ve sent $ and how much. Or Paypal her at skyn...@gmail.com.

Sky Roshay-Sky has been co-leading Dances of Universal Peace retreats for nearly twenty years, and mentoring new Dance leaders for over ten. Her experience with the Dances is that group movement, song and prayer has the power to shift our consciousness and expand the possibilities we see in our lives, as well as heal our wounding and restore joy. In recent years she has begun facilitating “Deeper Dance” conversations at retreats, to help people attune to the more subtle energies of the Dances, and sees this retreat as an expansion of this practice.
Kristina Rogers-Kristina has been dancing over twenty years and brings a great dedication to Energy Medicine and the listening into the energy behind the 3D world. She will be bringing energy exercises to help be in touch with one’s energetic being, other’s energies, and the fine line of sharing this…There is a magic that happens with the dance. It changes us and yet it is very useful to know how to work with others’ energetically.

Being Our Beauty: A Pause for Women
7-8 March 2019, Joyful Journey Hot Springs
a prelude to the Dance Retreat with Bernie and Sky (8-10 March)
Through self-awareness and self-care we are better able to show up in our lives, for ourselves and for others. Questions arise: How do we know when we need self-care and what that looks like? How can we use energy practices to enhance our self-care? How can we learn to listen to our bodies more? How can we strengthen our self-love muscle? How much do we already do these things and where can we refine our practices?
Spend an evening and a morning exploring these questions with women friends and developing practices to help navigate our journeys. Dances, songs, meditation, self-awareness exercises and conversation will nourish and restore us.
Led by Sky Safir Roshay and Angela Clark
Cost: Through January 14th, $25-40 as you can afford. Starting January 15th, $32 minimum. This is a separate fee from the Joyful Journey Dance retreat. To register, email Sky at skyn...@gmail.com to reserve a slot, then send her your payment either via check to Sky Roshay, PO Box 1394, Snowflake AZ 85937, or via Paypal.
When you register, you will receive info on how to reserve and pay for lodging through Joyful Journey (lodge rooms, yurts, camping). Dinner and breakfast are included in the room charge.

This is an event for women only, though men are welcome to hang out at Joyful Journey away from our retreat.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and righting,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.
