Hi all

My name is Mike Rehner and I am a teacher at Linden McKinley STEM. I
have volunteered to start a robotics club there. Looking for advice on
how to get a club up and running without any funding. Any ideas. My
skill set includes A+ Certiified Computer Technician, ASE Certified
Automotive Technician and MS CS. I'm committed to get something going
at whatever level possible.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I remember you from some of our days at Devry.

I would start with a lego leauge or if you have science olympiad, there's a robo-cross event.

As to getting equipment/stuff, that's a larger challenge. Since your a school, you might be able to get business to contribute, but I'm not sure of the rules. You can also contact various businesses to see if they would give you some stuff to start off with.

That's a start, either email me directly or post back to the group with questions.

Later,
Scott

Scott,

Thanks. I appreciate the quick response and good information you have
given me. I did the reasearch andI will reccomend to my administration
that we start of with a Lego League club for our 7-9 grades. I believe
starting small and enjoying a little success is better than trying to
gobble up too much territory at one time. Also in my research I came
across and really appreciated the Ubuntu articles you, Scott, posted
on your web site.

cheers,

Mike
