I love MNR's in Winter. It's not like warm weather where you have 70
cyclists clogging the streets and moving along like a glacier. Six
people showed last night, and the pace was fast. We went north on
High, went up Walhalla Ravine the wrong way (Children, don't try this
at home!) Then east on N Broadway, north on Karl, east on Ferris,
south on Waldorf to the Northern Lights Shopping Center, where we took
a break. There was a sharp wind from the SW and if you rode in a big
circle you got everything from a withering headwind to
"wieghtlessness" to a turbo charged tail wind. But the focus of
attention turned (as it is apt to do) to bunny hopping a poopy diaper.
Westt on Innes, south on Westerville Rd, south on Joyce. Down a ways
someone got a flat. We were at the huge water tower down there. It was
looming up over us like the monolith in 2001: A Space Odessey. Except
instead of throwing bones at it we were throwing tire levers and spent
CO2 cartridges. We continued south to Bexley then headed into town and
split up. The temperature was 48 when I left home and 38 when I got
back. Above normal for the season - someone quipped "Indian Winter."
But the wind gave the sensation of colder.
Come on, let's keep this blog alive.
