to Columbus Downtown Developer Book Club
Our downtown developer book club seems to have fizzled during the holidays, but I think its about time to start it back up. How about tomorrow? Is anyone interested?

Also, I think we should get a new book started for the new year. The last book was okay, but my interest has waned. One book that I've seen mentioned a bit by people on Twitter is Seven Languages in Seven Weeks which we could do over the period of 3 months or so if we do a language every two weeks. http://amzn.com/193435659X

What does everyone think? Meeting tomorrow? New book?

Hi all.!  Sorry I have missed a lot of meetings as well.  Got caught into Holidays and CodeMash.

I would like to join the book club again.!  However, this seven languages book does not peek my interest at all.  Read some of the reviews on Amazon, and I have more mixed feelings than positive on the content. :(  But, hey that's what a book club is about. Trying new things.. ;)

At CodeMash, they recomended The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master. http://www.amazon.com/Pragmatic-Programmer-Journeyman-Master/dp/020161622X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297259167&sr=8-1

Have you guys read this one already?
I'm in for tomorrow.  But I dont have a book... :(

Arnulfo.

How about we use tomorrow's meeting to discuss our plans?

I created a nerd dinner to RSVP at - http://nerddinner.com/4165

I'm interested in a group reboot as well, and I've not read PP all the way through yet. Consider me 75% likely for tomorrow depending on how things look at tomorrows standup.

sorry guys, got ambushed on an "emergency" meeting this morning.  I just got out of it, and i am sure I will miss the computer book club. (driving from Dublin to Downtown).

I'm ok with whatever books get selected.

thanks,

We decided on "The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master" by Andrew Hunt - http://amzn.com/B000SEGEKI

Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 24th at 11:30am and we'll discuss the first section of the book, "A Pragmatic Philosophy."

This first section includes the first six chapters of the book. In today's lunch we talked about reading the first four chapters, but I think we should expand that to include the other two chapters in the first section. I believe that's 26 pages total.
