In the past, Matt Casto proposed compiling lists of blogs/articles to
read instead of just books. I liked this idea in several ways, but we
should think a bit about how to manage it if we include this in our
approach.

If we try this, it would be nice if we had a structured way to track
and vote on proposed topics, articles, blogs, etc. One suggestion I
received was to use a collaborative tool like trello.com to propose
and vote on topics.

I have set up an experimental Trello board to see how it might work.
You can find it here:

http://trello.com/cbusdevs

Then look for the Downtown Developer Book Club board.

Let me know if you have any trouble finding it. Everything is
supposed to be set up as public, but there might be something I
missed. Try it out and let me know if you think it would work for
proposing voting on topics.

This group is largely informal, so I'm trying to resist the urge to
over-structure it. We can discuss/try out/abandon various approaches/
tools as needed.

FYI, I have registered http://cbusdevs.com/ as a simple way to point
to this group (and potentially others). You can use it to find the
various resources associated with the Book Club. I'm also adopting
the #cbusdevs hash tag on Twitter to reference Columbus Ohio developer-
related tweets.

Jeff,

What exactly are we supposed to do with the Trello board? I can see the cards you've created but I don't seem to be able to "join" or do anything interesting.

Seth/All,

I have updated the Trello board permissions to be more broad and
publicly accessible. I think you may still need to join the CBUSDEVS
organization on Trello to have full participation permissions such as
edit, but CBUSDEVS is a no-strings-attached group, so it's really just
a "container" for the board.

Try interacting with the Trello board again and let me know how it
goes. I also added a "READ ME FIRST" card under the Housekeeping
list. Let me know if that makes sense.

Feedback from any and all are welcome. See everyone tomorrow.

Thanks,

Jeffrey A. Miller
