to Columbus Downtown Developer Book Club
All,

We are planning to meet again next week, January 26th at 11:30 AM in
the usual location, Deli Boys on High St and Long St, Columbus, Ohio
(see map at http://tinyurl.com/DeliBoysMap).

Next meeting this Thursday, 1/26/2012

You can RSVP on NerdDinner.com here: http://t.co/hR7kiy0l

We will be resuming discussion on Michael Feathers' book, Working
Effectively with Legacy Code. I don't know what chapter we're in, so
please reply with specifics if you remember.

Also, we'll discuss new possibilities for discussion and formats. In
the past, Matt Casto proposed compiling lists of blogs/articles to
read instead of just books. I liked this idea in several ways, but we
should think a bit about how to manage it if we include this in our
approach.

If we try this, it would be nice if we had a structured way to track
and vote on proposed topics, articles, blogs, etc. One suggestion I
received was to use a collaborative tool like trello.com to propose
and vote on topics.

I have set up an experimental Trello board to see how it might work.
You can find it here:

http://trello.com/cbusdevs

Then look for the Downtown Developer Book Club board.

Let me know if you have any trouble finding it. Everything is
supposed to be set up as public, but there might be something I
missed. Try it out and let me know if you think it would work for
proposing voting on topics.

This group is largely informal, so I'm trying to resist the urge to
over-structure it. We can discuss/try out/abandon various approaches/
tools as needed.

* Remember, this group is guilt-free (If you don't read the material,
you're still welcome, but it's always better when you do read it.)

Thanks in advance,

Jeffrey A. Miller

P.S. I have registered http://cbusdevs.com/ as a simple way to point
to this group (and potentially others). You can use it to find the
various resources associated with the Book Club. I'm also adopting
the #cbusdevs hash tag on Twitter to reference Columbus Ohio developer-
related tweets.
