Our next meeting is Thursday, May 19th at 11:30am at the usual location.

We will be discussing chapter 8 of The Pragmatic Programmer, "Pragmatic Projects".

Also, this is the last chapter of the book, so we will also discuss where we want to go with this group in the future.

All,

I'm getting over an illness and have missed a lot of work this week,
so I won't be able to make it. Need to save as much of my PTO for my
upcoming paternity leave as I can.

I will also miss the next meeting on account of having a newborn; we
are scheduled for an induction on the 29th. After that, however, I
plan on attending regularly again.

My votes for the next book are:

1) Clean Coders, the new Bob Martin book.

2) Pragmatic Thinking and Learning, by Andy Hunt

I'll pretty much read anything except boring technical manuals for
technology I don't use.

See ya'll in a month!

We left today's meeting without having a new book chosen.

The books that were discussed were:
  1. "Pragmatic Thinking and Learning: Refactor Your Wetware" by Andy Hunt - http://amzn.com/1934356050 (no Kindle edition)
  2. "Godel, Escher, Bach - An Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Houffstader - http://amzn.com/0465026567 (again, no Kindle edition)
Although we didn't have any consensus and only agreed to take the discussion to our Google group.

I personally would prefer to agree on a book with a Kindle edition, and I think Jeff would probably like one that was also available on Nook :-)

Any other suggestions?

There haven't been any responses in the last week, so can we all agree on "Pragmatic Thinking and Learning"?

Works for me. Are you sure there isn't an ebook available from pragpub?
