Know a little JavaScript? Want to? Come and eat pizza, hack, and learn! This Wednesday the 18th, we have Jared Faris presenting and myself facilitating the hacking. Pizza is being provided by Onshore Momentum. And, of course, drinks follow at Gallo's.
Here's the details:
Node.js the Lazy Way with Jared Faris (@jaredthenerd)
JavaScript has really started shining as a server-side language in the last few years and there are a ton of great tools to support using JavaScript in the cloud. We'll look at how to get started with Node.js, some ways you can use it for fun and profit right away, and how to easily deploy it without a lot of bothersome work.
The Gilded Rose Kata with Guy Royse (@guyroyse)
Legacy code can be a real pain. Doubly so when it's JavaScript. The Gilded Rose is an exercise in adding a feature to a existing application. Originally written in C# then ported to Ruby, Guy has ported this horrific code to JavaScript. Come prepared to code and bring your smart brain. This exercise is a good challenge.
