All Team
Trustees,
Attached you will find the two brackets for this year's
CMSBL playoffs. The American/National Division will have an 11
team double elimination tournament and the Capital 35+ Division will have a
5 team double elimination tournament. As you will see, we don't have
some of the quality fields that we have had in years past (Liberty, Coffman,
Scioto, Thomas, etc....) but we are making the best of a tough situation -
please let your guys know that we hope that next year we are back to normal from
a field perspective.
We will update the bracket each week and field
locations could change if it makes sense. For example, if we can keep the
Braves at Whetstone, the Padres at Big Walnut, the Pirates at Franklin Heights,
etc... we will.
Each game is 9 innings and we will have a 3 hour time
limit but games can not end in a tie. We will also have a run rule - 10
runs after 7 innings. We will provide each game with 6 baseballs (watch
for later communications on picking up and delivering
baseballs).
Remember, that to be eligible for tournament play, a
player must have played in 50% of a team's games. Requests for exemptions
need to be submitted to the League President prior to September 7th - things
like "he was hurt until July 25th", "he has played in the league for 15 years
but had work conflicts", etc... are good reasons.
Both Tournaments will be Wood Bat. The majority
of our games played this year were wood bat and most like it better. We
can and will discuss this during the off season at length if necessary to
address the few concerns that we have heard just recently. For some the
added cost is a concern even though I am not sure that I understand this
argument after seeing metal bats at $300; but, because we did pretty well on the
All Star Game finances, the League will pick up $50 of any purchase between now
and the end of the year at Phoenix Bat limited to one per team. So, spend
$150 on three bats and it will only cost your team $100. Just let
Seth Cramer know (he is copied on this email) which team you represents when you
place your order.
Let Rick Fryman or me know if you have any questions
regarding the bracket or schedule.
Thanks.
