Dear Parents of Columbia Heights,

We are the Learning and Development Lab at Georgetown University: a group of researchers studying language learning and child development. We need your help to understand how children learn!

At our lab, we use simple games and activities to understand how children learn languages and other patterns. Our research is made possible through the support of families like yours. We are currently looking for children between the ages of 6 and 8 to participate in our research studies.

Participating is easy! Right now, our studies are conducted online. In our studies, your child will learn a made-up language (we call it Silly Speak) by playing a computer game online (with our help). The study is conducted online, over Zoom, in one or two 30-minute sessions. We offer $10 compensation per session.

If you’d like your child to participate in our studies, or if you’d like us to contact you about future opportunities to participate, please sign up at this link: https://redcap.link/learninglab
We look forward to hearing from you!

Best,
The Research Team at the Learning and Development Lab, Georgetown University
