This $40K would go a long way to funding a hackerspace, as would the fab lab equipment. Calls for devising something to turn PLA or ABS pellets into filament.

Can we set aside some time at the next meeting to discuss this or maybe a google hangout? I'm very interested in this. Know any sources for the pellets?

Theres a guy on ebay in mooresville missouri that sells ABS pellets. We might could work out a deal for reduced pricing on the pellets if we drive to pick them up. I don't know how the pricing for the pellets by the pound compares to the pricing of filament by the pound.

Long time no see all...

Just a suggestion (if you all are talking about the same contest I'm thinking of) - one of the goals of the project is to provide for recycling of previously printed parts.  So, you might want to get some printed parts (everyone with a printer makes mistake prints, I should know!) and work on a way to grind them first.  That should provide all the plastic you need to get started. :)
