Short Version
I'm thinking of offering a free class on solid modeling using FreeCAD and I'm sending this message to see if there's interest.

What I have in mind would take an hour or two, one night a week for maybe three weeks (5-6 hours total).  If you have interest in learning to model parts for 3D printing, laser cutting, or anything else, this is a good way to get your feet wet.

I'll cap the class at 6 people.  No cost. No obligation.  I'll set an evening or weekend time if there's enough interest to proceed.  If you're interested, please email me directly:

Slightly Longer Version
As many of you know, I contribute to an open-source CAD software project called FreeCAD.  A few years ago, I, and another developer, wrote a book about FreeCAD which was published by Packt.  It's now very outdated and new users are struggling.  Over the last few months I've been writing a new book specifically for first time users.  The book will be called FreeCAD for Inventors and should be published this fall.  The book won't cover all parts of FreeCAD but will highlight the strategies and techniques that can be used for a wide range of models and assemblies.

I'd really like to get some feedback from new users looking at and testing the examples.  So I thought I'd offer a free class and use the book as the curriculum.  This will be my way of seeing where new users get stuck, confused, or need better examples.

I'm first offering this to CGW members but if you know someone outside CGW, I'm happy to include them if there's room.
