Hi everyone,

Join us in Pupin Hall 301 next Friday, March 1, at 6pm for another public astronomy event! Columbia astrophysicist Dr. Josh Forer will be talking to us about "Astrochemistry: From Atoms and Molecules to Stars and Galaxies":

When we think of astronomy, what comes to mind? Stars? Black holes? Galaxies? Well, what about chemistry? In this talk, we'll discuss how simple atoms come together to form some of our favorite structures in the night sky, and how molecules can speak to us from light years away — all in the universe's biggest laboratory."

We'll start the evening at 6pm with some astronomy trivia, followed by Dr. Forer's talk and Q&A. From 7:10-8:10pm, we will be outside stargazing on College Walk (weather permitting).

The main event will take place in Pupin Hall 301. Signs will be posted to direct you to the lecture hall, and general directions to Columbia and Pupin Hall can be found here. Outdoor observing/stargazing will take place on College Walk, the portion of 116th street crossing through Columbia's main campus; we will walk down to College Walk as a group following the lecture and Q&A. Telescopes and binoculars will be provided by Columbia Astronomy (but you are absolutely welcome to bring your own observing equipment).

This event is free and open to all -- stay only as long as you want. If you plan to attend this event, please fill out the RSVP form at tinyurl.com/columbia-astro-mar1.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Pupin Hall next week!

Very best,
Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach

Hey everyone,

A friendly reminder that our next public astronomy night (featuring Dr. Josh Forer's talk on "Astrochemistry: From Atoms and Molecules to Stars and Galaxies") is tonight at 6pm in Pupin Hall 301! It also looks like the skies will be pretty clear tonight, so hopefully we'll be able to do some telescope observing from College Walk and the Low Library steps :)

See you tonight!

Happening now! We're live-streaming on our Youtube channel here: https://youtube.com/live/DxX-DzZvxz8?feature=share.

Unfortunately, the skies have gotten pretty cloudy, so we're not sure if we'll be stargazing tonight. We'll update you all by 7pm.

Very Best,
Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach

Unfortunately, it's too cloudy to do stargazing tonight. Hopefully we'll have some clear nights to stargaze later in March!
