Hi everyone,

The April 8 solar eclipse is tomorrow! In New York City, the eclipse will last from roughly 2pm to 4:40pm, but it'll peak around 3:30pm, when the moon will cover 89% of the sun. Come by Low Plaza tomorrow afternoon (between 1:30pm and 4:30pm) to pick up some eclipse glasses and safely view the partial eclipse! See here for more event details. You can also read about some other Columbia Astro eclipse events in NYC here.

Also: to get excited for the eclipse, check out this fantastic op-ed from Columbia Astronomy Professor Joe Patterson on the life-changing impact of solar eclipses!

Hope you all have a great eclipse day! (and remember to practice proper eye safety

Very best,
