August 5th 2015 is the twentieth anniversary of Mark Colton’s tragic death in a racing accident.
Mark was killed in his Pilbeam-Judd MP72-02 during a practice run at the Craigantlet hillclimb circuit in Northern Ireland when a front wing collapse at high speed led to immediate loss of control with the car hitting a telegraph pole.
Mark had been one of the leading drivers of the British Hillclimb Championship since the late 1980s, achieving 12 wins in the series.
Campaigning in the Ray Rowan-built Roman chassis with a Judd CV 3.5 V8 (ex-F1!), 1994 proved to be Mark’s best season, when he was runner-up to David Grace in the ever-dominant Pilbeam MP58.
