I've found a quirk that I'm sure isn't intended.

The symbols used when plotting in Line mode (but not necessarily with any
connecting lines showing) vary in size depending on the size of the box
enclosing the graph. That makes some sense but it only half works. It is
sensitive to the width but not the height of the box.

So if you want a 'letterbox' plot, wider than it is tall, and not too big
overall compared with the size of font on the axes, you get enormous
overlapping blobs (see attached).

Is there any way to get round this?

Edit the finished graph in Draw?

Doesn't help much with the actual live graph though.
Maybe a ;-) might have been useful. :-)

Pipedream, which as I recall has a much more flexible graph system,
provides an option to control the "%tage width" and "%tage shift" of the
points in a Line graph (I've tested this and it works), but then it also
allows you to use user-supplied graphics to define what the 'markers'
should look like... which, to be fair, is probably why this level of
control was provided. It does tend to confirm that the size of the
marker is relative to the *width* of the chart, though.

Unfortunately while Fireworkz can use Pipedream sheets as data source
file, the reverse isn't the case.

I already do that for some things that I can't control in FW, and to
correct things like the misaligned axis markers.

Doing it for makers would be fiddly because what's exported to Draw is not
centre references so of you shrink height and width the markers move up
and left.

I switched from Eureka to Fireworkz some years ago when Eureka literally
ran out of steam and couldn't handle some of my ever growing mega sheets.
I chose FW because it was actively being developed and offered Excel
compatibility (which turned out not to include .xlsx). However, I have
now invested a lot of effort converting all the Eureka files I still use
to FW, and am not keen to make another switch. I would also rather stick
with a platform and encourage improvements if possible.

The interesting thing in this case is that fixing it would not require a
new scaling engine, merely linking the existing scaling engine to both
ather than just one axis.

The irony is that Fireworkz *is* (or was supposed to be) the improved
version of PipeDream from the same developers, which is why it loads
PipeDream files... But for some reason a lot of the original graph
functionality/ configurability was removed in the process. :-(
