Dear Users,
Firefox 57 is out now and you'll notice that Color That Site isn't working on it.

I have evaluated the migration process for CTS to the new add-on requirements but this couldn't be done by minor changes but instead would've required the compleate recreation of all GUI (dialog) parts and reprogramming everything which is related to Firefox API functions.

This is and has been a hobby project and to be honest I am not motivated to put as much time in it as this would require.

What I'll do is to do some minor adjustmentsand corrections  to the add-on so that it will continue to work on the Pale Moon browser (a fork of Firefox which still uses the "classic" add-on format).

If you stay with Firefox (what I understand) what you can do is to move on to other Add-Ons.

You might be able to continue to use some edits of CTS by applying its CSS-Files using the "Stylish" Add-on.

You find the css-files of all color edits in the "ColorThatSite" subdirectory of your Firefox profile directory. ( open the adress "about:support" in a tab, then "Profile Directory"). I'm sorry that these files are only numbered. At least you should find the related sites at the top when you open the css files as text files.

Hi, thanks for the info, at least I'm not going to waste time trying to work out why it doesn't work. Now I'm not too sure what to do, well I did understand the two workaround you propose in your post, I'm not yet convinced which one I should go on with... Anyway the main reason for my post is I'm probably not the only one who used your plugin on a daily basis, but not just that, today I realize how I'm gong to miss it. Heavy screen contemplators from all around the world, sensitive-eye programmers and anyone who once sought a solution for they sore eyes earned from spending too much time in front of your screens, remember all the migraines you went thru before you've finally stumbled upon color that site! Please stand up! now is the time!

I'm sorry to hear CTS won't be updated, but I understand your reasons for not doing it.  Many thanks for CTS anyway - I'm very glad to have been able to use it up until now.

Well I eventually settled for going back to version 56, I just couldn't stand the new quantum version anymore

Thank you for color that site! It has been a critical part of my internet experience. I still use firefox 56 and your extension, but am going to try Pale Moon. Thank you for all your contributions to people's sanity. Thank you for making this compatible with Pale Moon. Bless you.

Hi!

Fixing the checkbox issue and compatibility with Firefox/Waterfox 56 would also be nice. I hope that it's still within the "minor adjustment" category.
The former is a particularly annoying persistent issue, especially combined with the latter. I constantly have to disable color edits and refresh pages to log-in, perform searches, etc. For which I have to open a non-e10s window now, because the sidebar doesn't appear otherwise. (For a while didn't have to do that on WF because of compatibility tweaks)

Just install and use the addon to find and install Color That Site. As the name says it's an archive.

Hi Micheal, any chance you have a github for this? Maybe someone else can take this over or make a chrome equivalent. This is the best extension ever created and literally saved my eyeballs for year.

Hi david,
maybe, if I find time (that doesn't improve the quality of the code though. ;-)

Until then everybody feel free to unpack the *.xpi of the Addon. It contains a license.txt (CC by 3.0) and all source code needed. (The archive also contains a *.jar in the chrome subdir, that can also be "unzipped".) You'll find code in Javascript and XUL/XML (for UI).

So basically, the addon is already "open" and "open source". Anybody feel free to use that. I would be just happy if you credit me somewhere in case you actually can reuse parts of it.
