When enabling the CTS! status bar icon Firefox always opens with the
status bar displayed instead of the default behaviour of respecting
the last setting (open with it hidden if it was hidden when closed).
This is a bug.
I think the more reasonable approach would be to remove that option
from Preferences. Just ship a normal icon in the status bar like most
extensions do (the ones that work properly) then the user can decide
where to put it (or even 'disable' it) by using the 'Customize...'
option.

Thank you.

Hi,
Sergio. I agree that automatically showing the addon-toolbar when the
icon is enabled is not an ideal behaviour.
That is a remnant from the 3.6 -> 4.x Migration (the status-bar was
always visible in 3.6. and people thought the icon vanished in 4.x
because the addon toolbar was off by default).

I will remove the auto-show for the toolbar in the next version.

I am still unsure about the show/hide icon option in the setup. I
understand that the toolbar can be changed manually but i won't
promise anything for the next version. I will have to think over this.
Maybe the option will be replaced just by a function/button to
comfortable add the icon to the toolbar, maybe simply removed like you
proposed.

Hi,

I'm not sure about what you said...

But personally I just put the Icon in my  FF ToolBars with others extensions I use regularly..

Ok.
The behaviour I thought of was like noscript, for instance.
Even if we have the status bar hidden, IIRC, when noscript is installed it adds its icon to the status bar and then when Firefox is restarted it opens with the status bar open but if we hide it again then the next time it won't force the status bar to open at Firefox's start (that's what I remember and I think most extensions act like that).
This way it shows people its icon but there's only need to show once.

@ Michel Cadorette, I like to leave the toolbars relatively uncluttered. And a simple Ctrl+/ opens/hides the status bar.

I was fiddling with the icon through 'Customize...' after disabling it
from the status bar first then afterwards enabling it again because
otherwise it wouldn't show among the icon options and somehow now
Firefox opens with the bar hidden.
I don't use this system the most but I'll see if it sticks this way.
