Scribus is finally stable for Windows, but it's aimed for professional
DTP users like Quark and InDesign, not Shirley the double duty
secretary and flyer designer.
For all of Publishers faults I haven't been able to find a relativity
simple DTP replacement or customer use.
Suggestions anyone?
-Indolering
In the less common case of a customer who finds Publisher enough of a
bother to be worth spending some money on an improvement, we
recommend Indesign. The few in this category (two spring immediately
to mind) have generally dealt with us over enough Publisher jobs to
see where it falls short, and want to change so they (and we) no
longer have those problems.
In my experience, by the time they outgrow Publisher, they're doing
enough to justify the expense of the upgrade. At that point, why
would you want to suggest anything else, and take on another whole
set of support and compatibility issues?

Not that it is very easy to use either, explaining bleed, folds,
custom page sizes... Well, publisher just falls so short I often have
customers redoing their entire files, over and over again.
