Hi Eval friends, I wanted to reach out to this group in case there is any interest. You can email me at my gmail or CU email address, see below 👇

Opportunity: R professional for CU Boulder Guest Lecture

👋Got R skills? I need you! I'm teaching a Data Vis course for CU Boulder's Master of Environment program this fall, and I'll be honest—my R skills are bare bones, but I believe students should be familiar with it. So I'm reaching out to see if anyone would be up for guest lecturing in one class session this October or November.

⭐ Here are the details:

  • Time: Class is 2.5-hours (3:30 - 6pm on Wednesdays) and you can take either 1 or 2 hours, up to you!
  • Date/location: In-Person in Boulder, potential dates: October 15, 22, 29, or Nov 5th - depending on your availability.
  • Content: Short refresher on RStudio and R language syntax, overview of data vis libraries (ggplot2, tidyverse, ploty, etc..) with focus on graphic adjustments, and Demo with environmental data.
  • Bonus: Presentation of real-life example of using R in the workplace for an environmental data problem.
  • Keep it friendly; students are not on a data science track.
  • Small stipend available.

🧐What's in it for you? You get to share your R wisdom with eager grad students and dip your toes into university teaching if you are curious about it. Plus, you'd be helping out a fellow data lover who's trying not to embarrass themselves in front of their class.

💌Sounds interesting? Ping me at Kasey...@colorado.edu and we can chat.
