 Pocket Sandals

With Pocket Sandals, you have a comfortable pair of sandals at the ready! These sandals fold up and are vacuum sealed to fit right into your pocket or purse, so you have them at the ready when your feet need some relief.
Congratulations to Michael M., Eric, Federico, Anthony, M-Jay, and Forrest on their winning business idea!

Adopting a Gender Responsive Approach for Women in the Justice System
While men still account for the majority of people in the criminal justice system, the proportion of women has been growing steadily over the past several decades. More than a million women are now either in prison or jail or on community supervision.
Despite this, criminal justice policies, practices, and programs have historically been designed for men and applied to women without consideration of women’s distinct needs. While gender-neutral approaches—if evidence-based— can be effective in reducing recidivism for both men and women, research has shown that gender-responsive approaches result in far better outcomes for women.

Background Checks and Fair Chance Hiring
It’s no secret that hiring justice-impacted individuals can be a way to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) in the workplace. Giving someone a fair chance can have an incredible impact not only on the person him/herself but also the employer and the communities they operate in. However, no matter how much an employer is bought into fair chances, quality candidates are still getting “stuck” when the background check comes into play.

Seeking Shelter from Mass Incarceration
Housing is one of our best tools for ending mass incarceration. It does more than put a roof over people’s heads; housing gives people the space and stability necessary to receive care, escape crises, and improve their quality of life. For this reason, giving people housing can help interrupt a major pathway to prison created by the criminalization of mental illness, substance use disorder, and homelessness.
