December 30, 2025 Dear CO-CURE, As this year winds down, we keep thinking about everything we've built together, and honestly, we are in awe of this community. and we are just taking a moment to say thank you once again for all of your support. In a year when the political noise got louder, and the calls for "tough on crime" policies grew, you stayed focused on what actually works and helped us stay grounded in the belief that safety comes from strong communities. You showed up to hearings. You shared your stories. You organized your neighbors. And because of that, Denver made history. After months of all of us pushing together, the Denver City Council voted unanimously to invest $3.1 million in a new Community-Led Safety Grant Program in 2026, with another $3 million coming in 2027. This is the first time Denver has put real money behind prevention, intervention, and victim support—the things that actually stop harm before it happens. That's what's possible when we refuse to accept that prisons are the only answer. And we're not slowing down. This fall, we launched No More Prisons Colorado, a statewide campaign with more than 70 partner organizations. Even though the data doesn't support it, there's growing pressure that there is a need to build new prisons or reopen private ones. We're making it clear: Colorado cannot incarcerate its way to safety. We know that there is a better, more sustainable path. A path that is rooted in care, opportunity, and strong communities. The coming year is going to test us. There's a major ballot fight coming on public safety, and well-funded interests are already working to pull Colorado backward into the failed policies of mass incarceration. But we'll be ready with research, organizing, voter outreach, and a clear vision: we don't have to choose between safety and justice. We can have both. We also just finished something we are really proud of, it’s the 7th edition of our reentry guide, Getting On After Getting Out (or as most of us call it, the Go Guide). It's packed with updated resources to help people rebuild their lives after incarceration, and it's a reminder of why this work matters, and why everyone deserves a real chance. Our mission hasn't changed, to eliminate the overuse of the criminal justice system and advance community health and safety. That means dismantling the barriers that trap people in the system, standing with families who've been impacted by incarceration, and fighting for a Colorado where everyone has what they need to live, heal, and thrive. As you think about your year-end giving, we hope you'll consider supporting this work. Every dollar goes toward voter education, policy advocacy, coalition building, and the community-driven solutions that are actually changing lives. Thank you for being part of this family, especially this year when it mattered so much. We are deeply grateful to be building real safety, real justice, and real community alongside you. With appreciation, Christie, Pam, Kyle, Kym, Maníge & Jennifer P.S. There is more than one way to support CCJRC. One option is as a Freedom Fighter. Our Freedom Fighters are a very important part of CCJRC. They make donations on a monthly basis. Whether it's ten, twenty, or even a hundred dollars a month, this type of giving allows us the ability to plan strategically throughout the year because we know what we have coming in. Our members also like it for the same reasons. They are able to spread their donations and budget their generosity more effectively. Whatever way you choose to support CCJRC, your involvement is deeply appreciated. Your support means the world to us. Thank you again for your generosity. Your involvement is deeply appreciated. Together we will continue to do the work that truly makes a difference.
