Dear Friends: Please join us on Friday, August 15 for the opening reception of High Walls: Artists Navigate Structures of Confinement at RedLine Contemporary Art Center in Denver. The evening will mark the culmination of what has been a two-year curatorial project.
High Walls asks how the built environment, surveillance technologies, and imagined space shape our system of incarceration, and how art often becomes a conduit for introspection and ambitions that extend beyond the high walls of institutions. The exhibit highlights the work of several artists in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Their work will be presented in conversation with notable contemporary artists from around the country. The show will also feature a large salon-style installation by Unchained Voices, with small works by over 130 artists in the system.

Please also join us on Saturday and Sunday for the High Walls Summit. This free, two-day summit kicks off at 9:30 am on Saturday morning, and will feature speakers, performances, readings, and hands-on workshops, all diving into the complex web of issues surrounding mass incarceration and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. You'll have an opportunity to hear directly from many artists in the show, including four artists in the CDOC who will join us virtually on Saturday afternoon. You can check out the full schedule here. Come for the full weekend or just select events. We hope to see you!
Best wishes,
The Unchained Voices Team
