This is an update regarding the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board’s work on the Standards and Guidelines for the Assessment, Evaluation, Treatment and Behavioral Monitoring of Adult Sex Offenders and the Assessment, Treatment, and Supervision of Juveniles Who Have Committed Sexual Offenses.

RECENT APPROVAL BY THE BOARD:
On February 19, 2021, no changes were ratified or approved by the board.
Erin Austin noticed the Board that Appendix G: SOMB Position Paper Regarding a Sex Offender’s Contact with His or Her Own Child, is being removed from the Standards. This paper was written and published following the rules in the Burns case, but prior to revisions of section 5.7 and the 5 pathways that now exist to guide providers in assessing contact with one’s own child. The White Paper will still be available on the SOMB website.
SOLICITATION FOR PUBLIC COMMENT:
On February 19, 2021, there were no items requiring public comment.
FEBRUARY BOARD MEETING AGENDA ITEMS:
· Presentation of the Lifetime Supervision Report by Elliot Moen, SOMB Staff Research Analyst, Angel Weant, Judicial Representative to the Board, and Christina Ortiz-Marquez, Department of Corrections Representative to the Board.
· Presentation by Ingrid Barrier with the Colorado Attorney General’s office for the annual Board Training per HB 18-1198.
· Panel Presentation on Feedback Informed Therapy by Chris Lobanov-Rostovsky-DCJ, Kim Kline-Vice Chair and SOMB Approved Provider, T.H.E., Sarah Marlow, RSA, Walt Simon, Progressive Therapy Systems, and Allison Talley, DOC.
· Chris Lobanov-Rostovsky and Marina Borysov provided an update regarding compliance with the Audit Recommendations.
OTHER CHANGES OR IMPORTANT UPDATES:
· The SOMB Best Practices Committee currently has an opening for a Juvenile Treatment Provider position. If interested, please contact Raechel Alderete.
· The Adult Standards Coordinator, Erin Austin will now be holding weekly technical assistance hours every Monday from 1 pm – 3 pm for providers and all other stakeholders needing assistance with implementation of the Adult Standards and Guidelines. · Training Opportunity: Introduction to the Adult Standards Trainings are now available on the SOMB Website: SOMB Training Events.

· Teletherapy Variance: Extended until APRIL 1, 2021 – STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION!
· Please ensure you are using the updated applications (June/July 2020) when applying for move up, add-on, or renewal. AS OF JANUARY 1, 2021, OLD APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
