The Justice Roundtable is a diverse coalition of over 50 national organizations working to reform the U.S. justice system.  The Roundtable amplifies the capacity of these groups by coordinating key legislative and advocacy efforts through working groups, convening quarterly assembly meetings, and hosting a public policy discussion series.

Justice Roundtable Assembly

The next Justice Roundtable Assembly will be June 6th at 10 a.m.  In addition to updates from the Working Groups, the feature presentation will be Eric Columbus, Senior Counsel to Deputy Attorney General and Just Detention International addressing the recently released DOJ standards to end sexual abuse in U.S. Correctional facilities.   Please RSVP to Andrew Maisel.

Visitors Service Center Annual Awards Celebration

On May 31st, at 5:30 p.m., please join the Visitors Service Center as they honor CURE’s Pauline Sullivan and others for their contributions to the field with the Community Hero Award.  The presentation and reception will take place at the Law Offices of Covington and Burling LLP.

PDS Community Reentry and Expungement Summit

On June 1st at the Washington Convention Center, The Public Defenders Service will be holding the Eighth Annual Community Reentry and Expungement Summit.  The Summit will assist persons with criminal records by providing reentry support services and helping individuals determine if they are eligible to get their arrest or conviction record sealed or expunged.  The goal of the Summit is to offer tools to DC residents on “How to Succeed with a Criminal Record.”  The event is free to the public.

NEW TIME: NDD Town Hall Meeting: Understanding the Sequester & Uniting Against It

On June 4th at 3 p.m., please join a new coalition of coalitions representing the full breadth of Non-Defense Discretionary (NDD) communities from education and public health, to science and law enforcement, to environment and human rights, to workforce and foreign affairs.  This summit of 60 coalition leaders will work to develop a coordinated, communitywide strategy to educate policymakers and the public about the value of nondefense discretionary programs, the impact of cuts these programs have sustained, and the impact of future cuts under a sequester.

American Constitution Society National Convention
